Previously, at the meeting of the Steering Committee on the arrangement and reorganization of administrative units at district and commune levels in Quang Binh province, many opinions discussed that the name of the new commune should include and contain the name of the district level.

Quang Binh province currently has 8 district-level administrative units and 145 commune-level units (including 122 communes, 15 wards, and 8 towns). Up to now, the initial plan is for the province to rearrange to 27 commune-level administrative units, a reduction of 82% compared to the time before merging commune-level administrative units. However, this number is not yet the final plan.

Mr. Le Ngoc Quang, Secretary of the Quang Binh Provincial Party Committee, said that the rearrangement of administrative units has a great impact on the ideology of cadres, party members and people's lives, so it is necessary to do a good job of political, ideological and communication work, avoid causing panic; organize direct dialogues between the government and the people to clearly explain the reasons for the merger and long-term benefits.
