Transport promotes socio-economic development
It can be seen that in recent times, especially in the last 5 years, when key transport chains such as the Hai Phong - Ha Long - Van Don - Mong Cai expressway, the airport in Van Don district, the international port in Ha Long city, the high-class Ao Tien port... were put into operation, Quang Ninh has become a locality with the fastest developing transport infrastructure in the country.

With a synchronous transport infrastructure, Quang Ninh is one of the leading provinces in innovation and growth in the Northern region. Quang Ninh has had 9 consecutive years of double-digit growth, ranked among the top 7 provinces in the country); 7 consecutive years holding the top position in PCI; 5 consecutive years leading the SIPAS index and 6 years leading the PAR Index...
Quang Ninh has a rapidly growing economic scale, reaching 315,839 billion VND in 2023, 5.7 times higher than in 2010, ranking 3rd in the Northern region (after Hanoi and Hai Phong), contributing 10.1% to the total economic scale of the Red River Delta. This is also the center of attracting FDI capital with total capital attracted in 2023 reaching over 3.1 billion USD.
Not only that, Quang Ninh is also an international tourist center, with the 5th highest urbanization rate in the country. The average GRDP per capita in Quang Ninh is expected to reach 10,000 USD by the end of 2024.
Contributing to those successes of Quang Ninh, there is a breakthrough development of the transport infrastructure system.
Quang Ninh always identifies transportation as the lifeblood of the economy, from which it has built a roadmap, gradually removing institutional and resource bottlenecks to invest in synchronous transportation infrastructure.
Notably, from 2019 to now, Quang Ninh province has completed all "3 doors" to connect with the world with a system of airports, seaports and highways over 176km long running along the province. This synchronous development helps travel and connection between Quang Ninh with other provinces, regions and internationally fast, safe and convenient.
Specifically, it only takes 4 hours of flight for investors from Korea and Japan to reach Ha Long. Instead of 3.5 hours from Hanoi to Ha Long, 6 hours to Mong Cai City before, now the travel time is only half as Quang Ninh owns a 176km long expressway connecting with the Hai Phong - Hanoi - Lao Cai expressway. This is a traffic route that creates close links with China and ASEAN countries.
Provincial Road 342 connecting Ha Long City with Ba Che District of Quang Ninh to Lang Son is being completed.
Speaking to Giao thong Newspaper, a leader of the Quang Ninh Department of Transport said: Currently, the locality is continuing to implement many key transport projects worth tens of thousands of billions of VND to create regional and inter-regional connections. When these projects are put into operation, it will add new momentum for Quang Ninh to develop more sustainably and effectively.
Transportation contributes to strengthening national defense and security
Located in the position of "leaning against the mountain, facing the sea", Quang Ninh is located at the gateway, the frontier of the Northeast region of the Fatherland, having an important position in politics, economy, culture, national defense, security and foreign affairs of the whole country.
Traffic is developed synchronously, which means that the task of building a national defense system associated with people's security in Quang Ninh is increasingly convenient.
In particular, recently, Quang Ninh has been effectively implementing the policy of building and developing the province into a strong defense zone in terms of national defense and security and a frontline of international economic cooperation and competition.
The newly put into use National Highway 18C from Hai Son commune to National Highway 18 in Mong Cai city has created a new position and strength for socio-economic development associated with national defense and security in the land border area in Quang Ninh.
Accordingly, all traffic programs and projects serving the socio-economic development of localities are closely linked with the national defense and security arrangement according to the motto "Each step of economic, cultural and social development is a step to strengthen national defense and security"...
Specifically, in the land border area, recently, Quang Ninh has invested thousands of billions of VND to complete synchronous traffic infrastructure.
A typical example is the inter-commune road project in Binh Lieu district worth over 420 billion VND connecting the inland area to the border belt route that is being implemented.
According to a leader of the Military Command of Binh Lieu district, the implementation of this project not only creates a new socio-economic development for ethnic minorities in the border areas of the area but also plays a particularly important role in building the national defense and security posture in the area...
The Navy force stationed in Quang Ninh is always ready to protect the sovereignty of the sacred sea and islands in the Northeast region of the Fatherland.
Or since September 2023, Quang Ninh has completed phase 2 of the project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 18C from Hai Son commune to National Highway 18 in Mong Cai city with a length of 14.13km, with a total investment of 297 billion VND, creating new advantages for socio-economic development, strengthening national defense and security in the land border area of Quang Ninh.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Quang Nam, Chief of Po Hen Border Guard Station, Mong Cai City, said: Since the road was put into use, it has not only helped the lives of ethnic minorities in the border area develop faster and more stably, but also created favorable conditions for border units to carry out patrolling tasks, protect border lines, landmarks, and maintain security and order in the area.
In the coastal border area of Quang Ninh, many key transport projects have been deployed and are making important contributions to the task of socio-economic development, strengthening the national defense and security potential more and more effectively. Among them are the high-class Ao Tien port in Van Don Economic Zone, Tuan Chau International Port, Hon Gai in Ha Long City, the Northern Gulf of Tonkin Fisheries Service Center in Co To island district...
With investment in synchronous transport infrastructure, Quang Ninh today has been affirming its new stature, new appearance, and new position as the northeastern border region of the Fatherland.
