Now, Nokia Mob has registered two new model numbers in the GSMA (Global System for Mobile Communications Association) IMEI database, which could represent the first HMD-branded smartphones and possibly feature phones, including the model numbers TA-1585 and N159V. There’s not much information about these phones and what they actually are: smartphones, feature phones, smartphones for a specific market… The certification simply confirms that these models are developed by HMD Global.
HMD branded phones will appear in the first half of next year
Additionally, the data also claims that the TA-1585 model complies with European Union (EU) regulations and was signed by Aihui Xiao, HMD Global's product manager in China. The data, dated October 24, 2023, mentions the TA-1585 as a mobile phone with Android firmware 00WW_0_122, and notes that the phone ships with accessories and components, including a charger, headphones, battery, and USB cable. This information is quite interesting because it could suggest that the phone will have a removable battery or be easily repaired like the Nokia G42 and G22. The model number is close to the Nokia G42 5G model number, TA-1581.
The GSMA IMEI database also mentions the device’s brand as “HMD.” Currently, HMD Global is the company that makes Nokia devices, but the brand itself is “Nokia.” This could indicate that the models in question are HMD phones, marking HMD Global’s first step toward discontinuing Nokia phones in the future.
Finally, the first HMD-branded phones will launch in the first half of 2024, which means testing will begin soon.
