Specifically, Nigeria's unemployment rate is 33.3%, followed by South Africa with 32.9% and Iran with 15.55%.
According to the Nigerian National Bureau of Statistics, Nigeria's unemployment rate increased from 27.1% in the second quarter of 2020 to 33% in the fourth quarter of 2020.
In a more recent report by multinational consulting firm KPMG, the unemployment rate in Nigeria has increased to 37.7% by 2022 and will continue to increase to 40.6% as job seekers continue to pour into the market.
Unemployment will continue to be a challenge due to slow economic growth and the economy's inability to absorb about 4-5 million new workers each year, KPMG said.
The lowest unemployment rates, according to the World of Statistics report, are in countries like Qatar (0.1%), Cambodia (0.36%) and Niger (0.5%).
