Promoting intercultural values in the trend of global integration

Promoting intercultural education, intercultural communication, communication in the context of cultural convergence;... is an important content at the International Scientific Conference ICCE 2024 organized by Hanoi Capital University in collaboration with Hue University of Education, Economic & Urban Newspaper and domestic and foreign partners .

Diversity of research content on interculturality

An overview of intercultural philosophy; promoting intercultural education through preparing teachers for multicultural competence; resolving the tension between equality and diversity in multicultural education according to the International Convention (UNESCO) against Discrimination in Education; multiculturalism and the teaching of French in Vietnam... are the topics presented at the 5th International Conference on Culture and Education in 2024 (ICCE 2024) with the theme "Intercultural Education in the context of integration".

The conference attracted 300 speakers, guests, and domestic and international researchers.

Delegates, domestic and international guests, along with many scholars, experts, scientists and students, discussed, shared and sought effective solutions to the challenges that education is facing in today's integration context.

In a discussion on the issue of “Communication about Hanoi culture in the digital media environment”, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Loi, Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Editor-in-Chief of the Economic and Urban Newspaper, shared two contents: cultural convergence in convergent media and solutions to improve the effectiveness of Hanoi cultural communication.

Accordingly, in the context of the current rapid development of communication technology, convergence culture is a new type of culture that is developing. Cultural communication plays an essential role in preserving, promoting and spreading cultural values to the community. In fact, cultural communication helps preserve and introduce traditional cultural values of a nation, especially intangible heritages. Cultural communication is also a tool to help build and develop the cultural identity of each country and region; helping to connect generations, communities and different social groups through sharing common cultural values...

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Loi, Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Editor-in-Chief of the Economic and Urban Newspaper presented a paper at the Workshop.

To improve the effectiveness of Hanoi's cultural communication, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thanh Loi proposed four solutions: strengthening communication about the capital's cultural heritage, history and cuisine; using digital technology in cultural communication and developing public cultural and artistic spaces; developing diverse cultural communication content, rich and creative forms; diversifying communication forms through seminars, talks and strengthening international communication cooperation.

“Continuing to promote communication about Hanoi culture in the digital media environment is necessary to preserve and spread good traditional values, while contributing to the comprehensive development of tourism, economy and local identity in the context of international integration - realizing the aspirational goal of making Hanoi develop quickly, strongly and sustainably”, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Loi emphasized.

Choosing the topic “Intercultural communication in integration and sustainable development in Vietnam”, Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, Regional Political Academy I, explained: in the era of international integration, intercultural communication is an inevitable activity that must take place and the key to opening the door to success in the communication process is understanding each other’s culture. When we have prepared knowledge and absorbed the other party’s culture, we can avoid inappropriate communication situations, even unwanted conflicts.

Within the framework of the Conference, more than 300 delegates representing 9 co-organizing units, domestic and international guests, along with a large number of scholars, experts, scientists and students discussed many topics; together shared and sought effective solutions to the challenges that education is facing in the context of integration today.

Opens up many new ideas for researchers

The 5th International Conference on Culture and Education 2024 (ICCE 2024) is considered a meaningful forum for scientists who love culture and education.

Many opinions were discussed enthusiastically at the Workshop.

Interesting topics on philosophy, law, and general cultural development, especially in countries such as France, Japan, Thailand, etc., received a great response and participation from scholars. In addition to the reports presented, many issues and questions were raised and discussed enthusiastically, opening up many new ideas for future researchers.

In addition to the plenary session, in the thematic sessions, a total of 45 authors and groups of authors presented papers in 6 subcommittees according to topics, including general issues on interculturality, education, and intercultural categories (intercultural education in university environments, intercultural values education in general education environments, cultural education and political issues, intercultural issues in literature and art, etc.).

Although from different perspectives and topics, researchers all come to a common point: interculturalism aims to promote communication between different cultures and facilitate the integration of each nation into a common world. Intercultural education is an urgent need of each country in the trend of global integration.

Concluding the workshop, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hung, Vice Principal of Hue University of Education, believes that through this workshop, many intercultural values will continue to be promoted in the educational work of schools as well as of society; so that cultural values will be preserved and fulfill their mission.

The success of the ICCE 2024 conference not only contributed to solving important issues on the topic of Intercultural Education in the context of integration but also opened up many pressing issues to continue the debate on the category of interculturality in new and challenging conditions.

In his concluding remarks, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Chairman of the Council of Hanoi Capital University, expressed his thanks to the delegates, scholars, and guests at home and abroad who attended and made many positive contributions to the conference.

As the host of ICCE 2024, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan shared: "Hanoi Capital University has a 65-year tradition but has only been a university for exactly 10 years. The school always wants to have the opportunity to meet, exchange and learn from domestic and international experts and scientists to contribute to improving the quality of education of the school, thereby affirming its position and making steady progress in the coming time."
