Just as Binh taught the intellectual arts to millions of Vietnamese people, Binh taught AI to enjoy the light of the new era, where AI is a great tool of labor.

In 1945, the Popular Education Movement launched by President Ho Chi Minh helped liberate millions of Vietnamese people from illiteracy, igniting hope and the will to build the country.

80 years later, Digital Literacy has gradually permeated life, contributing to the spirit of "lifelong learning", with the desire to popularize basic knowledge of digital transformation for all people, helping people have "digital capacity" to access the knowledge of the times faster and more effectively.

Popular AI is a unique initiative of that spirit.

AI Popularization Project.

Anyone can learn AI

Over the past year, Mr. Le Cong Thanh, Director of InfoRe technology company, and his colleagues have implemented the AI Popularization project, attracting nearly 400,000 members to participate as soon as the AI wave entered Vietnam.

The project aims to help people learn how to use AI simply and effectively as a daily working tool. Popular AI is a new type of Popular Education movement, aiming to popularize AI knowledge to all classes, from farmers, workers, ordinary laborers to students, housewives... Everyone can access knowledge in a free, simple and easy-to-understand way.

AI will be the key to entering the new era.

AI will be the key to entering the new era.

"Artificial intelligence is a new "vehicle" and people of all classes are the "drivers" who need to learn how to control it to be able to operate it in cyberspace ," said Mr. Thanh, adding that AI is not only a technological tool but also the key to overcoming language barriers, easily accessing high-value economic markets, and expanding opportunities for everyone.

This is also a great opportunity for Vietnamese people, when AI becomes the foundation of most industries. If in the past, developed countries were decades ahead of us in new technology, today with AI, Vietnamese workers can learn at the same time, in sync with the world. More importantly, Vietnam's technology infrastructure is enough for learners to access AI knowledge via the Internet.

Not only technicians, anyone can use AI as a powerful "assistant" to improve productivity and work quality in all fields.

At first, Thanh and his colleagues encountered many difficulties because many people thought it was not suitable for their level. He overcame this concern by building a program that was suitable for each person. Farmers can analyze AI data on agriculture to forecast crops, optimize productivity and reduce costs. Farmers can also learn how to use AI applications to analyze crop problems such as pests, nutritional deficiencies or soil moisture.

The principles of "Learning to do" and "Teaching to learn" were chosen by Mr. Thanh and his colleagues as a guiding principle. Members are encouraged to learn and share knowledge together with rich open resources. There, AI technology as well as the latest methods, even though they have just been launched in developed countries, are shared almost immediately.

A project called AI Training was organized by Mr. Thanh and his colleagues, aimed at those who already have a foundation, are willing to invest in in-depth learning, and practice systematically with the goal of becoming an AI instructor for the community.

"The project supports full scholarships for those participating in the program, if they commit to using the knowledge they learn to teach at least 100 other people to use AI proficiently ," said the Director of InfoRe Technology Company.

The “Microlearning” learning format (learning a little bit every day) is also one of the creative elements of the project, helping learners easily access AI knowledge despite limited time. Members spend at least 15 minutes to learn and practice AI applications. All sharing and contributions from individuals are recorded, evaluated and responded to via the AI chatbot system, helping learners realize their own progress every day.

In addition, the group also actively cooperates with provinces and universities to provide free training for core staff. After being trained, the staff will open classes to teach those who do not know the subject in the locality.

"The principle of our AI training classes is that those who have learned and mastered the knowledge will teach those who do not know. The movement has spread widely, receiving enthusiastic support and response from the community. Everyone participates voluntarily, wanting to update and spread knowledge," said Mr. Thanh, adding that teaching others is the best way to learn in the world, helping each person remember more deeply.

Embrace AI for lifelong learning

General Secretary To Lam’s recent article emphasized that lifelong learning is the key for Vietnam to enter a new era. To implement this policy, certain methods, skills, and conditions are needed. AI is a key factor, as it contains a lot of human knowledge.

Knowing how to use AI will increase access to knowledge, leading to lifelong learning. Without proficiency, self-learning will be difficult.

"Like the Popular Education Program that lights up knowledge for millions of Vietnamese people, the Popular Education AI program aims at the light of a new era, where AI is no longer far away. There, we have the opportunity to stand shoulder to shoulder with global AI human resources, increase income, bring Vietnamese intelligence far and wide, and at the same time promote the socio-economy ," said Mr. Thanh.

Just like Popular Education enlightens knowledge for millions of Vietnamese people, Popular Education AI aims at the light of a new era, where AI is no longer far away.

Mr. Le Cong Thanh

According to Mr. Le Cong Thanh, artificial intelligence has now developed to level 3, when AI tools can operate autonomously, doing work automatically, not simply being machines that execute user commands. This shows that if workers in all industries do not understand AI well and do not have the skills to use AI, they will easily be eliminated.

In particular, repetitive jobs that follow a pre-set process will be replaced by AI the soonest.

The fear of losing your job is widespread around the world, especially in developed industrial countries. According to 2023 statistics from market research firm Ipsos, 69% of Australian workers are worried about AI replacing their jobs. The figure is 65% in the UK, 63% in Canada and the US, and 58% in India. This shows that without a clear understanding of generative AI and the skills to use it, workers will easily be eliminated.

In recent years, Vietnam has been implementing digital transformation, however, the digital skills of Vietnamese people are still mostly limited to old-generation software, not yet integrated with AI.

"With AI-integrated software, we have not really mastered it, because it is still too new. Therefore, it creates certain gaps in the digital skills of Vietnamese people ," Mr. Thanh commented, and said that if artificial intelligence is considered a new 'vehicle', then workers are the 'drivers' who need to learn how to control and operate them in cyberspace.

When we master technology, we can overcome language barriers, easily access new knowledge, new opportunities. Any business with a good "driver", a good "super car" and enough "fuel" can move forward strongly and win the race.

The CEO of InfoRe believes that every Vietnamese person can continue to write the story of technological miracles, of a future where AI is the "second brain" of millions of workers, together realizing the aspiration of self-reliance, self-reliance, and enriching knowledge for the country.

According to new research from IBM, 1.4 billion of the 3.4 billion people in the global workforce will need to be reskilled due to the advent of artificial intelligence and automation. IBM drew data from a survey of 3,000 executives in 28 countries and a survey of 21,000 workers in 22 countries. The results show that AI will certainly create changes in the workforce and businesses, but not for the worse.
