9 co-organizing units
The 5th International Scientific Conference on Culture and Education in 2024 (ICCE 5) includes a plenary session and thematic sessions with 6 subcommittees: general issues on interculturality; education and intercultural categories; intercultural education in university environments; intercultural education in general education environments; interculturality and geopolitical issues; interculturality with the field of literature and art.
ICCE 5 has the participation of 9 co-organizing units; Hanoi Capital University is the host unit; Hue University of Education is the co-host unit with 7 member units, including Kinh te va Do thi Newspaper.
The conference attracted great attention from domestic and international scientists from France, Japan, Thailand... From more than 150 submitted research papers, the conference selected about 100 papers to be published in the proceedings.
In 3 languages (Vietnamese, French, English), the conference focused on topics related to intercultural education in the context of integration. The presentations were on the challenges and opportunities of intercultural education in ASEAN, Vietnam's cultural adaptation in globalization, the role of intercultural education in areas such as arts, languages, etc.
The workshop also addresses intercultural education models, STEAM education and cultural values in general and university education. In addition, speakers will present on Vietnamese-French cultural exchange, European-American cultural heritage in the Philippines; the development of intercultural education in universities and communities. The workshop aims to promote international understanding and cooperation, preserve and develop traditional cultural values in the context of global integration.
According to the organizers, the keynote speakers participating in the conference are all world-leading experts in fields related to culture and education, such as: Professor Thai Kim Lan, Professor Jean Noriyuki NISHIYAMA, Dr. Nannaphat Saenghong, Dr. NAKOULMA Mariame Viviane, Dr. PHAN-LABAYS Thi Hoai Trang.
Along with that are researchers, scientists, managers: Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Luu Lan Anh (Institute of Psychology and Intercultural Education, Eötvös Loránd University, Hungary), Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Loi, Editor-in-Chief of Economic and Urban Newspaper, Dr. Steffen Kaupp (Goethe Institute Hanoi), Dr. Prasong Saihong (Mahasarakham University, Thailand),....
This is a forum for scientists, managers and education experts to share knowledge and experience in intercultural education; promoting national cultural values; and accepting different cultural identities in the world, towards a vision of diverse globalization, interaction, equality and respect between cultures.
Sharing cross-cultural knowledge
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Associate Professor Dr. Do Hong Cuong - President of Hanoi Capital University shared that with the enthusiastic participation and valuable contributions of the delegates, the 5th International Scientific Conference on Culture and Education in 2024 will bring a lot of useful knowledge and experience, contributing to promoting intercultural education in the context of integration. Research issues on culture and education are discussed and expanded to encourage the participation of scholars around the world to jointly build a rich and diverse academic community.
In the introductory report, Associate Professor Dr. Tran Huyen Sam, Hue University of Education, emphasized: in the current trend of globalization, humanity has shifted from confrontation to intercultural dialogue. Interculturality has the task of opposing the viewpoint of extreme nationalism and the invasive and brutally possessive attitude of totalitarianism. Cultural dialogue will bring about understanding and harmony between cultures.
Coming to the Conference, although from different perspectives and topics, the researchers all came to a common point: intercultural education is an urgent need of every country today in the trend of global integration.
As a co-host, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hung, Vice Principal of Hue University of Education, said that the success of the Conference not only contributed to solving important issues on the topic of Intercultural Education in the context of integration but also opened up many issues to continue debating the category of interculturality in new and challenging conditions.
“For Vietnam, in the process of opening up and integrating internationally, especially when the country enters the “era of national growth”, culture and people are the endogenous strength to develop the country, the ego value to affirm a strong Vietnamese nation. Hopefully, the series of seminars will increasingly expand and become a cultural value, contributing to the preservation and promotion of the role of interculturality in the context of integration..", Assoc.
