On February 23, according to VTC News reporters, at the two cinema complexes Cinestar Hai Ba Trung and Cinestar Nguyen Trai, many young audiences came to the cinema to line up to buy movie tickets because they could not buy them online.
At these two cinema complexes, VTC News reporters recorded some of the audience's comments before and after watching the historical film by director Phi Tien Son.
Audiences continuously visit the theater to buy tickets to see the movie "Peach, Pho and Piano" for next week because many weekend screenings are sold out.
Although "Peach, Pho and Piano" is not advertised through flyers, posters or billboards, thanks to word of mouth and social media, the film is receiving attention and support from the audience.
Audience member Hoang Thao (customer service staff in Ho Chi Minh City) shared that her father is a history teacher, so since she was a child, she heard many stories about historical events of the country.
So when she learned about the movie Dao, Pho and Piano based on the context of Hanoi during the 60-day and night war in late 1946 and early 1947, this female audience was very interested and wanted to see the movie. When she learned that 2 cinema complexes in Ho Chi Minh City were opening screenings, Hoang Thao excitedly went to the cinema to enjoy the movie.
“As soon as I knew there was a screening, I booked tickets online but couldn’t. This morning, I had just finished my night shift at 5am and at 6am I went to Cinestar Hai Ba Trung, waited for the theater to open to buy tickets to see the earliest screening of “Peach, Pho and Piano”, Hoang Thao excitedly shared.
Before watching the film, audience member Hoang Thao expressed: “I really love Vietnamese history, but it is not easy to find an interesting film about this topic. I hope the film will give me a new perspective on history. I also did not read reviews of the film's content in advance to keep my excitement to myself.”
After watching the movie, meeting VTC News reporter at the theater, audience member Hoang Thao said she felt satisfied for taking the time to watch the movie Dao, Pho and Piano . This audience member gave it a 9/10 rating because the movie brought her many emotions.
The female audience member said she cried many times because some scenes successfully portrayed the love and sacrifice of the two main characters.
However, it is inevitable that there are some small “grains of sand” in the film. Audience member Hoang Thao thinks that there should be Vietnamese subtitles for the parts where the characters speak French. Because she cannot understand what she is hearing, her feelings about the film are sometimes not complete.
The reaction of Ho Chi Minh City audiences after watching the movie "Peach, Pho and Piano" was quite positive.
Audience member Minh Phuong (2nd year student, Ho Chi Minh City University of Architecture) also chose to watch the movie Dao, Pho and Piano because of her love for history. At the same time, Minh Phuong wanted to have the opportunity to better understand historical events through the footage on the big screen.
Sharing with VTC News about her feelings after watching the film, Minh Phuong gave this film 9/10 points. The female audience expressed: “The three images of “peach”, “pho” and “piano” do not appear too much but are all very valuable. Although the film does not have subtitles for the French dialogue, I personally find this point quite interesting. The music of the film makes me shiver, especially Liszt’s piano piece, both tragic and romantic.
Although the ending still leaves many questions unanswered, I personally still appreciate this film because the heroic and romantic qualities are intertwined in each character."
Audience member Minh Hoang expressed his pride when witnessing a large number of young audiences coming to the cinema to watch the movie "Peach, Pho and Piano".
