(QBĐT) - On the afternoon of February 28, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee worked with the working delegation of Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) on implementing projects at Dong Hoi Airport.
Speaking at the meeting, Provincial Party Secretary Le Ngoc Quang said that Quang Binh has great potential in tourism, services and logistics, with a strategic location on the North-South axis and gateway to the East-West economic corridor.
Over the years, the province has made remarkable progress, attracting more and more tourists and investors. However, one of the biggest “bottlenecks” is the transport infrastructure, especially Dong Hoi airport.
In fact, the current capacity of Dong Hoi Airport has gradually reached its limit, failing to meet the increasing development needs. The expansion of the airport and the construction of Passenger Terminal T2 are urgent requirements to create momentum for growth, enhance the competitiveness of the province; at the same time, contribute significantly to the socio-economic development, national defense and security of the region.
“This project cannot be delayed! We are not only solving an infrastructure problem but also opening up opportunities for Quang Binh to make a strong breakthrough, leading the wave of investment and sustainable development,” the Provincial Party Secretary emphasized.
The Provincial Party Secretary affirmed that Quang Binh is committed to accompanying ACV, giving strong direction to remove all difficulties, creating the most favorable conditions for the project to be implemented on schedule and with the highest quality.
At the meeting, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ACV Vu The Phiet informed about the implementation status of the project "Construction of Passenger Terminal T2 and expansion of aircraft parking lot - Dong Hoi Airport".
Accordingly, the construction of Passenger Terminal T2 and auxiliary items with a capacity of 3 million passengers/year, domestic passenger exploitation; construction of 4 new aircraft parking positions, increasing the total number of parking positions to 8 positions. The expected land area is more than 15 hectares, with a total investment of over 1,800 billion VND; of which: Component project 1 "Construction of Passenger Terminal T2" is 1,750 billion VND; Component project 2 "Expansion of aircraft parking lot" is nearly 94 billion VND. Regarding the expected progress, Component project 1: Construction of Passenger Terminal T2, construction started in the second quarter of 2025 (construction time 18 months), completed and put into operation and use in the fourth quarter of 2026; Component project 2, expansion of aircraft parking lot, started on August 15, 2024.
The representative of ACV emphasized that regarding the compensation and site clearance (GPMB) work for the 11,746ha land area managed by the Northern Airports Authority, ACV is coordinating with relevant units and localities to carry out procedures to issue a notice of land recovery, complete the compensation plan, GPMB and the application for land allocation and lease for the project. At the same time, he requested the provincial leaders to pay attention to Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation to effectively carry out the handover of the site at the old Air Traffic Control Tower and build the new Air Traffic Control Tower; pay attention to supporting the work of approving the fire prevention and fighting design of the T2 Passenger Terminal construction project; propose to the Ministry of Transport to connect domestic and international airlines to Quang Binh...
At the meeting, provincial leaders and delegates discussed and agreed on solutions for the project to be implemented synchronously and effectively.
As the investor, ACV leaders committed to implementing the component projects with the highest spirit and responsibility, determined to complete the aircraft parking lot and start construction of Passenger Terminal T2 on April 30. The completion of these projects aims to meet the travel needs of people and improve the aviation infrastructure in the Central region, in line with the needs and development orientation of Quang Binh province in particular and the North Central region in general.
Concluding the working session, Provincial Party Secretary Le Ngoc Quang highly appreciated ACV's sense of responsibility and initiative in implementing the Dong Hoi Airport expansion project as well as the close coordination of provincial units and localities in creating favorable conditions for the project.
The Provincial Party Secretary said that for the remaining work in project implementation, the province will request relevant agencies to coordinate to speed up the progress of procedures and site clearance work, without delay, without leaving the project waiting for land; the Provincial People's Committee will establish a special working group tasked with urging and inspecting the implementation progress; on the ACV side, there will be a coordination mechanism, timely information on progress to remove difficulties and obstacles; relevant levels, sectors and units must participate with a spirit of determination, responsibility and efficiency in coordinating project implementation...
