After Tet, traveling and exploring Nam Du archipelago is a great choice!
A corner of Nam Du |
Nam Du belongs to two island communes An Son and Nam Du, this is the farthest archipelago of Kien Hai district (Kien Giang province), more than 80 km from Rach Gia by sea, still quite wild. Nam Du with 21 large and small islands forms a beautiful ecological complex in the middle of the Southwest sea of the Fatherland.
… At exactly 7:20, the Ngoc Thanh ship departed from Rach Gia port, tearing through the water, heading out to the vast West Sea. The ship passed Hon Tre, then docked at Hon Son to let some passengers off, then continued its journey to Nam Du. The Nam Du archipelago gradually appeared, prominent, towering, majestic, in the middle of the vast, windy West Sea. The ship blew a long whistle, arriving at Nam Du port at exactly 10:30, passengers with luggage and relatives eagerly “landed” on Cu Tron island (the main island of the Nam Du archipelago). From the port, passengers took motorbike taxis to their motels, and in the afternoon they could start walking around and exploring Nam Du.
Rent a motorbike for 150,000 VND/day, drive around the island, the mountain pass road is more than 9 km long, winding close to the sea cliffs with very interesting scenery. On one side is the mountain forest, on the other side is the blue sea, the waves lapping, splashing white foam.
Bai Cay Men is the most beautiful beach in Nam Du that tourists must stop at… The beach is crescent-shaped, the sand is pure white, soft as powder, along the beach are rows of tall green coconut trees, swaying in the cool, fresh sea breeze. Tourists immerse themselves in the clear, jade-green water, playing and splashing…
Tourists visit Bai Dau |
Leaving the poetic Cay Men beach, we walked a bit, stopping at Dinh Nam Hai Ngu Than on the mountainside overlooking the beautiful Ngu beach like a painting. At Nam Du beach - according to Mr. Le Quoc Xoàn (head of the temple), during the storms No. 10, 11, 12 of 2017, there was a "fish god" (meaning whale) "luy" (dead) drifting to Ngu beach. Fishermen collected all the bones of "Him" and brought them to Dinh Nam Hai to preserve. This Whale skeleton is over 15 m long, with all the bones of the head, ribs, spine, shoulder blades, fins, tail... According to folklore, when the sea is stormy, the Whale often anchors, bringing ships and boats that are about to sink to shore safely. Therefore, coastal people highly respect this fish.
On the second day of the trip, guests rent a small boat for 250,000 VND/day or 150,000 VND/half day to visit the islands of Nam Du. The boat will first take guests to Hon Dau after 15 minutes of leaving Hon Cu Tron wharf.
Hon Dau is a small island covered with primeval forests. On Hon Dau Island, there is a beach about 100 meters long, with golden sand and rows of green coconut trees. The beach here has two parts.
