Mr. Nguyen Phu Cuong has submitted a resignation letter from his duties as a National Assembly Delegate.

On the morning of May 19, at the press conference on the expected program of the 5th Session of the 15th National Assembly, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh - Deputy Head of the Delegation Affairs Committee of the National Assembly Standing Committee (NASC) said: The National Assembly will consider, discuss and vote on the proposal of the NASC on the dismissal and termination of the duties of National Assembly deputies for personnel elected by the National Assembly.

Previously, at the recent mid-term conference of the 13th Party Central Committee, the Central Committee agreed to let Mr. Nguyen Phu Cuong, Chairman of the National Assembly's Finance and Budget Committee, cease his position as a member of the 13th Party Central Committee. At the same time, the Central Committee also gave opinions on the personnel of a number of Central agencies for the Politburo to decide on introducing to the 15th National Assembly for election and approval.

At the press conference this morning, answering reporters' questions regarding personnel work, Deputy Head of the Delegation Affairs Committee Nguyen Tuan Anh stated: In the planned working program at the 5th Session, the 15th National Assembly will spend time on the first working day to review personnel work.

"The National Assembly will consider, discuss and vote on the proposal of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly on the dismissal of National Assembly deputies for the personnel elected by the 15th National Assembly, as well as the implementation of the process of electing the Standing Committee of the National Assembly," said Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh.

The National Assembly is expected to elect the Standing Committee of the National Assembly and the Chairman of the Finance and Budget Committee of the 15th National Assembly.

Also at the 5th Session, the National Assembly will consider and approve the Prime Minister's proposal to dismiss and appoint the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment according to the procedure. Currently, this position is held concurrently by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha.

Regarding the case of Mr. Nguyen Phu Cuong, answering the reporter's question, Deputy Head of the Delegation Affairs Committee Nguyen Tuan Anh informed: "On May 15, the Party Central Committee agreed to allow comrade Nguyen Phu Cuong, Chairman of the Finance and Budget Committee of the National Assembly, to resign from the position of member of the 13th Party Central Committee. On May 16, comrade Nguyen Phu Cuong submitted a request to resign from his duties as a National Assembly Delegate and from the positions elected by the 15th National Assembly. Thus, according to the procedure, the National Assembly Standing Committee will consider and submit to the National Assembly for decision on related contents."

Regarding the issue of taking a vote of confidence, the Deputy Head of the Delegation Affairs Committee said that according to Regulation 96/QD-TW on taking a vote of confidence and Resolution 85/2014/QH13 on taking a vote of confidence, voting for confidence in people holding positions elected or approved by the National Assembly or People's Council, the National Assembly will conduct a vote of confidence in people holding positions elected by the National Assembly or expected to be approved.

It is expected that the National Assembly will take a vote of confidence at the 6th Session and according to regulations, 45 days before the scheduled session, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly will decide on the list for the vote of confidence and approval. Therefore, the official list will be available 45 days before.
