Representatives of the Department of Nature Conservation and Biodiversity (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) awarded the certificate of recognition as a Vietnamese Heritage Tree to the rội mật tree at Ky Anh Tunnel.
This gallstone tree is over 500 years old, has a base circumference of 2.7m and a height exceeding 26m.
According to local people, the rội mật tree has been associated with the people for a long time. During the resistance war against the French, this was the place to practice the movement of "eradicating illiteracy".
During the resistance war against America, guerrillas often climbed up to observe enemy troops marching to signal our troops to escape through the creeks and from there go down to the tunnels to hide.
The tall tree stands tall in the middle of the swamp, the forest trees are low, so it has to withstand many bombs and artillery shells from the enemy, but the tree still stands firm.

Nowadays, the rôi mật tree and Ky Anh Tunnel have become attractive tourist attractions, helping visitors understand more about a difficult but glorious historical period of the nation.
Vice Chairman of Tam Ky City People's Committee Tran Trung Hau said that the rội mật tree not only has historical value but also has important significance in maintaining ecological balance, contributing to creating green landscapes and raising public awareness of nature protection.
