Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Phan Van Hoa, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lang Son province, said that Chau Van performance is a unique folk art form closely associated with the spiritual beliefs of the Vietnamese community, containing all artistic values: music, culture, performing arts, costumes, dance...

By using spiritual music with solemn and refined lyrics, hat van is considered a form of singing with the meaning of serving the Saints, expressing the people's aspirations for a peaceful, prosperous, and happy life, with profound humanistic meaning, guiding people towards a better and more beautiful life; promoting the relationship between people, between individuals and the community, and strengthening the solidarity of ethnic groups.

The 2025 Lang Son Province Chau Van Performance Festival is an opportunity to honor and revive cultural traditions, awareness of preserving and promoting the value of Chau Van performance rituals, and spreading the value of traditional cultural heritages.

The festival also aims to enhance creativity and innovation in bringing folk performing arts forms associated with historical and cultural relics, gradually forming and creating unique and attractive tourism products for visitors.

Chau Van is a traditional singing art form, closely associated with the Hau Dong ritual in the practice of the worship of the Mother Goddesses of the Three Realms (an intangible cultural heritage of humanity recognized by UNESCO in 2016) and the worship of Saint Tran (Tran Hung Dao) of the Vietnamese people.

Chau Van singing has many forms of performance including worship singing, competition singing, and serving singing (singing to serve the spirit medium). Chau Van uses many different poetic forms such as: seven-word poetry, song that luc bat, luc bat, and spoken singing... The lyrics of the texts often praise the virtues and tell the stories of the saints.
