Mr. Dong Van Thanh holds the position of Provincial Party Secretary and Chairman of Hau Giang Provincial People's Committee.

On the afternoon of December 12, in Hau Giang, Politburo member, Party Central Committee Secretary, Head of the Central Organization Commission Le Minh Hung chaired a conference to implement the Politburo's Decision approving Chairman of Hau Giang Provincial People's Committee Dong Van Thanh to hold the position of Provincial Party Secretary for the 2020-2025 term.

On behalf of the Politburo, Mr. Le Minh Hung congratulated Mr. Dong Van Thanh on being assigned a new responsibility by the Politburo. The Politburo believes that with his experience, maturity through practical work and his attachment to the Party Committee and people of Hau Giang province, Mr. Dong Van Thanh will excellently complete the assigned tasks.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Dong Van Thanh said that this is both an honor and a great responsibility before the Politburo, the Secretariat, the Party Committee, the government and the people of Hau Giang province. As the head of the Provincial Party Committee, Mr. Dong Van Thanh promised to continue to train and cultivate moral qualities, lifestyle, capacity and working methods, strive, wholeheartedly and wholeheartedly turn pressure into motivation.

Along with that, he proactively stays close to the grassroots; respects and listens to the opinions of the Standing Committee, the Party Executive Committee, the opinions of cadres and people with a spirit of respect, openness and learning; always upholds the spirit of unity and solidarity within the Party Committee, and takes the highest responsibility in the work for the common development of the province. In the coming time, he will continue to maintain unity and solidarity within the entire Party Committee; comply with the regulations on the Party's leadership, be serious, open-minded, listen, inherit and promote the results of his predecessors.

Thus, Mr. Dong Van Thanh is currently the Provincial Party Secretary and Chairman of the People's Committee of Hau Giang province.

He hopes to continue receiving the attention, leadership, direction and assistance of the Politburo, the Central Party Secretariat, the Central Ministries and branches, especially the support, assistance and sharing of comrades in the Provincial Party Standing Committee, the Provincial Party Standing Committee, the Provincial Party Executive Committee; previous generations of leaders; Party committees, Party members and people to successfully complete the set goals, targets and tasks.

Previously, on December 1, 2024, the Standing Committee of Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee held a meeting of the Provincial Party Committee to elect the Provincial Party Secretary for the 2020-2025 term. The meeting was attended by 45/46 members of the Provincial Party Committee. At the meeting, 100% of the attendees unanimously elected Mr. Dong Van Thanh, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, to hold the position of Provincial Party Secretary for the 2020-2025 term.

Mr. Dong Van Thanh, 55 years old, born on June 24, 1969, hometown in Phong Dien district, Can Tho city. He has a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and a high level of political theory.

In 2004, Hau Giang province was separated and established from Can Tho. Mr. Dong Van Thanh held the position of Vice Chairman of Chau Thanh A District People's Committee. In June 2007, he was transferred and appointed to the position of Deputy Chief of Office of Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee. In May 2011, he was appointed to the position of Chief of Office of Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee.

In September 2014, he was appointed Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hau Giang province. In October 2020, at the Congress of Delegates of the Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee, term 2020 - 2025, he was elected Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee. At the 18th session of the People's Council of Hau Giang province, term IX, term 2016 - 2021, he was elected Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
