Nguyen Duc Dat (Thanh Tri, Hanoi) started the new year with his 19th blood donation. Dat shared: "At the beginning of the year, donating blood, I feel very happy and meaningful when I can contribute a small part to help patients in need of blood. This is my 19th donation, but each time brings a special feeling, especially when I am the first to visit the Institute on the morning of the first day of Tet."
Mr. Dat also expressed his hope that this action will spread the spirit of sharing to more people. "For me, donating blood is not only a responsibility but also a joy, a way to start the new year in a complete and meaningful way," said Mr. Dat.
In another area, Mr. Duong Minh Quang (in Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi) became the first platelet donor of the year with his 59th donation.
Not only Dat or Quang, but many people also maintain the habit of donating blood every Tet holiday. Ms. Dinh Ngoc Tram (in Minh Khai, Hanoi) has donated blood 23 times and this morning is the 4th time Ms. Tram donated blood on the morning of the first day of Tet.

Ms. Tram shared that at the beginning of the new year, she personally wanted to do something meaningful to help patients in need of blood. "The fourth time donating blood on the morning of the first day of Tet, which is also the 23rd time donating blood, for me, it is not just a number, but also a reminder of sharing and responsibility. I hope that more people will join hands to donate blood, so that no one has to worry about a lack of blood for treatment during Tet" - Ms. Tram expressed.
Nguyen Ngoc Khanh Linh, 19 years old, in Hanoi, has also donated blood 4 times and this is the first time Linh has donated blood on the morning of the 1st. Sharing the reason for choosing this day to 'donate blood, give life', Khanh Linh said: "In recent years, my mother has chosen the 1st to donate blood, so this year I also followed my mother and chose this day".
Linh said she hopes she will always be healthy, so she can donate blood, especially on the meaningful occasion of the first day of the new year.
Among those who donated blood this morning, there were many medical staff who directly donated blood after their New Year's Eve shift at the Blood Institute. For them, this is not only a job but also a passion, a companionship with patients in the most important moments.

Dr. Vu Quang Hung, Head of the Department of Blood and Blood Components Reception (National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion), said: "Having people volunteer to donate blood right from the morning of the first day of Tet is truly a valuable gesture, helping to ensure a timely blood supply for patients in need of blood transfusions."
Dr. Hung also emphasized that, in addition to voluntary blood donors, the medical team at the Institute also proactively donated blood right after their New Year's Eve shift.
"As people working in the medical field, we understand the value of each unit of blood. Besides caring for and treating patients, we also want to directly contribute to ensuring blood supply for patients" - Dr. Hung shared.

It is expected that on the first day of the Lunar New Year, about 100 people will participate in voluntary blood donation. Participating in the blood donation this morning, technician Nguyen Thi Quynh Nga - Department of Blood and Blood Component Reception said that for 6 Tet holidays, she has participated in the rotation every day.
"This year I am on duty on the first and third days of Tet. These days, working at the Institute, meeting blood donors, chatting with each other, the joy of the new year seems to be multiplied" - Quynh Nga said and informed that today's shift of Nga and 6 other technicians lasts 12 hours, from 7am to 7pm.
Technician Nguyen Thi Quynh Nga expressed her joy at going to work on the first day of Tet and said that this year Nga was on duty on the first and third days.
