On November 16, in San Francisco, California, the US, world leaders took a group photo at the 2023 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders' Meeting. On November 17, at the end of the meeting, APEC economic leaders unanimously adopted the APEC 2023 Joint Statement, known as the Golden Gate Statement. The statement acknowledged that economies in the bloc are facing a series of challenges that require harnessing technological advances to continue to unleash the region's enormous potential, promote economic growth and address environmental challenges.
