On the afternoon of February 29, a press conference was held to announce information about the Pho Festival with the theme "The Road of Vietnamese Pho".
Representative of the organizing committee, artisan Le Thi Thiet - President of Nam Dinh Culinary Culture Association - said that Pho Festival 2024 will take place for three days, from March 15 to March 17 in Nam Dinh city (Nam Dinh province).
The event was organized by the People's Committee of Nam Dinh province, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Nam Dinh province, the Nam Dinh Culinary Culture Association in coordination with other units.
The highlight of this year's festival is the "Vietnamese Pho Road" which gathers more than 50 booths of businesses and brands participating in promoting the image and brand of Vietnamese pho from all over the country.
Within the framework of the program, there will also be activities to set a record for the giant pho pot, a discussion on the development of the pho profession from the past to the future, and an exhibition space for pho culture.
Along with that is the activity of experiencing the process of making pho for ambassadors, guests and tourists at the traditional pho village of Van Cu (Nam Dinh).
Speaking to the press, Mr. Do Quang Trung - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Nam Dinh province - added that since 2023, the department has coordinated with relevant units to build a dossier to submit for recognition of pho as a national intangible cultural heritage and register to submit a dossier to UNESCO, moving towards making Vietnam's pho a world cultural heritage.
Throughout the three days, the organizers will issue a special promotion program of 15,000 - 20,000 bowls of pho for diners in the form of coupons.
With each coupon worth 15,000 VND, diners will enjoy a bowl of pho at the booths of their choice.
The organizers will donate 5,000 coupons from the proceeds to the Cerebral Palsy Children's Fund in Nam Dinh province.
