According to flight tracking website FlightAware, a total of 1,243 flights in the US were canceled and 514 were delayed as of 7:14 a.m. local time.
United Airlines led the list of cancellations with 238 flights, followed by 215 by Southwest Airlines, Reuters reported.

"We expect some operational challenges due to weather in the Midwest today, and possibly tomorrow due to winter weather in the region," Delta Air Lines said.
The decision to delay and cancel some flights came after the Federal Aviation Administration warned that rain, snow and wind could delay operations at some airports.
