Cloud hunting season on the 'roof of the South'

Ba Den Mountain has a cool, pleasant climate all year round. With an altitude of about 986m above sea level, the mountain top is often covered with white clouds, which is also a special feature that attracts tourists to Ba Mountain.

Known as the "roof of the South", Ba Den Mountain, located about 110 km from Ho Chi Minh City and about 11 km northeast of Tay Ninh City center, has long been a symbol of Tay Ninh province and a must-see destination for Buddhists.

In the past, pilgrims went up Ba Mountain to visit Ba Den Pagoda (or Linh Son Thien Thach Tu) located at an altitude of 200m on the mountainside. Since the modern cable car system and the complex of Buddhist architectural works, notably the Tay Bo Da Son Buddha statue (the tallest bronze Buddha statue in Southeast Asia), this place has become more attractive to tourists than ever. In the past, only those who were healthy enough could conquer the top of Ba Den Mountain, but now both children and the elderly can visit the top of Ba Mountain thanks to the modern cable car system. It takes less than 10 minutes for everyone to conquer the "roof of the South" with its wild, charming, modern and sacred beauty.

Therefore, Ba Den Mountain is also an attractive cloud hunting spot for travel and photography enthusiasts. The ideal time for cloud hunting starts from May to January of the following year, in the early morning and late afternoon.

According to the experience of local people, the probability of clouds is higher when it rained the night before and the next morning the sky is clear and windless. At this time, due to high humidity and large temperature difference, low layers of fog can easily form. Looking down from the top, you will see the whole of Tay Ninh immersed in a white curtain of floating clouds like a paradise. There are days when the whole top of Ba Mountain is covered in white. If you use a drone to observe closely, you will see the statue of Buddha Tay Bo Da Son as if riding on magical white clouds, no different from a paradise on earth.

The statue of Buddha Tay Bo Da Son on the top of Ba Den Mountain is the tallest Buddha statue in Southeast Asia, made from 170 tons of red copper and 72m high. The statue was inspired by many statues of Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara "national treasure" in the North, with a compassionate face; wearing a crown carved with the image of Amitabha Buddha, holding the Karana Mudr Teaching Seal in the right hand, and holding a vase of nectar in the left hand. In a place where the natural energy is harmonious, the presence of the statue of Buddha Tay Bo Da Son seems to strengthen the belief in the "spiritual mountain", which is a symbol of wisdom, altruism and encourages Buddhists to live a good life.

Around December to April of the following year is the most suitable time for people to stroll on the top of Ba Mountain. The weather is clear, the air is cool and pleasant for people to enjoy and take souvenir photos. In addition to the complex of religious architecture built majestically and delicately, people can also admire the colorful flower parks. On full moon days or major Buddhist holidays of the year, on the top of Ba Mountain, there will be a ceremony to offer lanterns and release flower lanterns with Buddhists near and far to pray for peace and luck.
