AFP reported that, according to security sources, the situation is now under control, women and children used as human shields have been rescued, bringing the total number of passengers rescued to 190. Sources confirmed that security forces were extremely cautious during the rescue process to ensure the safety of innocent people.

According to previous information, the terrorists wore suicide vests and sat with the hostages, making efforts to rescue the hostages difficult.

Authorities are still trying to determine the exact number of passengers who fell victim to the terrorists. Earlier information said there were a total of 425 passengers on the train when the attack occurred.

According to a source, the terrorist group claimed to have killed 50 hostages in the attack. However, so far, railway officials have only confirmed three deaths: the train driver, a policeman and a soldier.

Meanwhile, NBC News reported that in a statement late on March 12, the Pakistani military said: "All hostages have been safely rescued and are in the process of evacuating them."

According to the statement, the Pakistani army rescued about 178 hostages on March 12 and 168 hostages a day earlier.

The incident occurred on March 11, when terrorists blew up a section of railway track and attacked the Jaffar Express train traveling from the capital of Balochistan state, Quetta, to Peshawar in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Following the incident, Pakistan Railways suspended all trains from Punjab and Sindh provinces to Balochistan until security agencies confirmed the area was safe again.

In a statement, an ethnic minority militant group called the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the attack.

Following the incident, on March 12, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning expressed concern and strongly condemned the attack, and declared his willingness to strengthen security cooperation with Islamabad in the fight against terrorism to "jointly maintain regional peace and stability."

Ms. Mao Ning stressed that China firmly opposes all forms of terrorism and will continue to support Pakistan in safeguarding security, maintaining social stability and protecting people's safety.

The train hijacking has raised serious concerns about the safety of Chinese nationals working on projects under the $60 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Beijing has asked Islamabad to step up security to protect Chinese nationals working there. Given the current tense situation, Beijing has asked Islamabad to allow Chinese security forces to be deployed in CPEC project areas. However, the Pakistani government has been hesitant to do so.
