Opening ceremony of Hue National Tourism Year 2025

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh emphasized: The Opening Ceremony of the National Tourism Year - Hue 2025 is the opening event for a series of cultural, sports and tourism activities taking place in provinces and cities across the country, promising to turn Hue into a tourism and cultural center of Vietnam and the region, contributing to promoting and inspiring people to travel, creating momentum to promote the tourism industry to recover and develop quickly and sustainably. Tourism is a key economic sector, not only contributing to creating jobs, improving income for millions of workers, helping many households in remote areas escape poverty, bringing a new look, reviving relics after years of "sleeping" but also promoting cooperation, cultural exchange, international integration, building friendship, preserving peace, helping the unique cultural values ​​of the nation to be promoted, deeply absorbed, and spread domestically and internationally.

Opening Program of National Tourism Year - Hue 2025

In just two years 2023 and 2024, Vietnam Tourism has made a spectacular recovery. Vietnam is the fourth largest destination in ASEAN in terms of arrivals and total tourism revenue. Vietnam continues to rise in the Tourism Competitiveness Index; receiving many prestigious tourism awards such as "Asia's Leading Tourist Destination", "World's Leading Heritage Destination" and hundreds of awards from other tourism businesses. This is the driving force for us to continue to make stronger breakthroughs in the future.

Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh emphasized: “Vietnam is entering a new era, when tourism is not only an experience, but also a bridge of friendship, cooperation and sustainable development. Resolution No. 08/2017 of the Politburo clearly stated that “Vietnam's tourism industry has developed strongly but its potential advantages are still great, requiring us to constantly strive and be creative”. In the coming time, the tourism industry needs to thoroughly grasp the Prime Minister's direction on comprehensive, fast and sustainable tourism development with the motto "Unique products - Professional services - Convenient and simple procedures - Reasonable prices - Clean and beautiful environment - Safe, civilized and friendly destinations".

Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Head of the Steering Committee for National Tourism Year Hue 2025 delivered the opening speech.

Within the framework of the National Tourism Year 2025, along with Hue City, many provinces/cities across the country will also organize many response events such as sports tournaments, culinary festivals, tourism weeks, cultural weeks... to introduce and promote the image, tangible and intangible cultural values, resources and unique tourism products of Vietnam in general, Hue City and provinces/cities in particular, while promoting regional linkages to develop tourism.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Head of the Steering Committee for Hue National Tourism Year 2025 said: “In order for the whole industry to complete the goal of welcoming 22-23 million international visitors and serving 120-130 million domestic tourists in 2025, making Vietnam an attractive destination for international cultural, sports and tourism exchanges, contributing to the successful implementation of the Socio-Economic Development Plan with a growth target of 8% or more, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will proactively coordinate regularly and closely with ministries, sectors, Hue city and provinces/cities, and the business community”.

Art program to open the National Tourism Year - Hue 2025 with the theme "Confession of the River"

The 90-minute opening art program of the National Tourism Year - Hue 2025, with the theme "Confession of the River" includes three parts: "Legend of a River", "Converging Rivers" and "New Flow of the Rivers", honoring the tangible and intangible cultural values ​​and unique tourism resources of Vietnam. More than 800 famous domestic actors, singers, artists and international art troupes from China and Korea participated in the performance. The opening night also featured many impressive performances such as light shows, electronic water drums, panogama water music, flying dragons, flying parachutes... The highlight was the high-altitude fireworks display at the Hue Flag Tower area.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Duong, a tourist from Hanoi, said: “This is my first time participating in such a large art program, and I feel very excited. I find the stage on the Perfume River quite special and novel. The show is very elaborate and quite unique, the stage design, the effects, and the props of the show are also quite special. When I came here to watch, I was very surprised and happy to be able to attend this program.”

The National Tourism Year 2025 with the theme “Hue - Ancient Capital, New Opportunities” associated with Hue Festival 2025 includes 160 major events of national and international scale. Of which, Hue City organizes 75 activities and provinces and cities in the country organize many response activities.

Fireworks light up the opening night

Activities in Hue focus on the four-season Festival orientation: Spring Festival "Ancient Capital Spring", Summer Festival "Shining Imperial City", Autumn Festival "Hue in Autumn" and Winter Festival "Hue Winter". Hue expects to welcome about 5.5 million visitors during the National Tourism Year 2025, with revenue of about 10,800 to 11,200 billion VND.
