The 9th selection period in 2024 marked the first participation of large, prestigious brands not only domestically but also internationally.

On the afternoon of October 28, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Industry and Trade held a press conference to introduce and provide information on the 9th Vietnam National Brand Product Announcement Ceremony in 2024.
Sharing at the press conference, Mr. Hoang Minh Chien - Deputy Director of the Department of Trade Promotion (Ministry of Industry and Trade) said that the Vietnam National Brand Program is a special, long-term trade promotion program of the Government to build and develop national brands through product brands.
Participating in the Program is a process for businesses to comprehensively evaluate their activities, production/business results and brand building strategies through the Program's criteria system; thereby encouraging businesses to share and pursue the core values of the Program, which are Quality - Innovation, Creativity - Pioneering capacity.

After more than 20 years of formation and development, the Vietnam National Brand Program has achieved many remarkable achievements, attracting strong attention and building a solid reputation with businesses, management agencies and consumers both domestically and internationally.
"The program not only honors typical product brands and businesses representing the Vietnamese National Brand, but also contributes to affirming that Vietnam is a country with high-quality goods and services, with strong competitiveness in the international market, " said Mr. Chien.
According to the Deputy Director, in 2024, despite the complicated developments of the unstable geopolitical situation in the world that have negatively impacted many aspects of socio-economic life and production and business activities of enterprises, the 9th national brand selection continued to attract the participation of over 1,000 enterprises in different industries and fields across the country.
The application dossiers are evaluated and appraised according to the criteria specified in Decision No. 30/2019/QD-TTg, Circular No. 33/2019/TT-BCT stipulating the criteria system of the Vietnam National Brand Program and Circular No. 25/2021/TT-BCT amending and supplementing a number of articles of Circular No. 33/2019/TT-BCT. To carry out the selection process, the Secretariat invited experts from the list of the Program's Expert Panel to participate in the evaluation of the dossiers (2 experts evaluate 1 dossier).
At the same time, according to Mr. Chien, the Secretariat has hired reputable specialized units to evaluate the relevant indicators for each dossier, specifically: Mibrand Joint Stock Company (a partner and official representative in Vietnam of Brand Finance - a global brand valuation company headquartered in the UK) conducts a survey on brand recognition; KPMG Company assesses financial health; Vietnam National Credit Information Center (State Bank) rates credit.
In addition, the Secretariat has sent an official dispatch to request opinions from specialized management agencies on compliance with specialized laws, specifically: General Department of Taxation, General Department of Customs, Vietnam Social Security, People's Committees of provinces/cities under the Central Government.

After more than 9 months of launching and implementing the selection activities, on October 21, 2024, the Minister of Industry and Trade - Chairman of the Vietnam National Brand Council issued Decision No. 2776/QD-BCT recognizing 190 enterprises with a total of 359 products achieving Vietnam National Brand in 2024.
"Thus, compared to 2022, this year the country has 18 more enterprises with products achieving the Vietnam national brand. This is a testament to the attraction and influence of the Program on enterprises in promoting the import and export of goods and services as well as developing the domestic market" - said the Deputy Director of the Department of Trade Promotion.
Launch pad to help Vietnamese businesses reach out to the world
Sharing at the press conference, Mr. Vu Ba Phu said: "The theme of the Ceremony to Announce Products that Achieve Vietnam's National Brand in 2024: Reaching into the Green Era. With this theme, we want to send a message about the combination of economic development and sustainable development".
On the journey to elevate Vietnamese brands to "stand shoulder to shoulder with the world's powers", the National Brand Program not only represents the quality and reputation of Vietnamese enterprises but also marks a strong commitment towards green development.
"After more than 20 years of formation and development, the National Brand Program has become a launching pad to help Vietnamese enterprises reach out to the world with a spirit of innovation, creativity and environmental friendliness. Enterprises are not only pioneers in the economic field but also the driving force for green development trends, contributing to creating a prosperous, sustainable and happy Vietnam in the future" - Mr. Phu said.

The selection of enterprises achieving National Brand has been conducted every two years since 2008 with the aim of encouraging enterprises to continue to share and pursue the values of the Program, enhancing pride in Vietnamese products. The selection process is carried out seriously, publicly and transparently.
The 9th selection period in 2024 marked the first participation of large, prestigious brands not only domestically but also internationally. This not only reflects the strong development of Vietnamese brands but also shows the increasing awareness of businesses about the importance of brands in many industries and fields. This marks a new step forward in the effort to affirm and enhance the value of national brands in the market.
The Ceremony to Announce Products that Achieve Vietnam National Brand in 2024 will be held at 7:30 p.m. on November 4, 2024 at the National Convention Center and broadcast live on Vietnam Television.
