To sell products, many people have used tricks such as creating 'dirty' content and 'exaggerated' advertising, which negatively affects consumers and society. This behavior needs to be strictly handled.

Expensive lesson because of "dirty" content, "excessive" advertising

In today’s digital age, social media has become a powerful tool for connecting people, sharing information and promoting products. However, in addition to the benefits that technology brings, a phenomenon that is becoming increasingly common and alarming is the situation of creating “dirty” content and “excessive” advertising to attract likes, views and sell products.

Most recently, on March 10, 2025, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Procuracy approved the decisions to prosecute and temporarily detain 9 defendants for the crime of Disturbing public order, in the case of carrying a coffin in front of Ben Thanh market (Ho Chi Minh City).

According to initial information, Tuan was in business, selling clothes online on Tiktok. In early 2024, Tuan created a Tiktok account with the purpose of doing business, selling clothes online but with little capital. After that, Tuan got to know Quyet and Xuan. Quyet and Xuan agreed to support Tuan in starting a business, with the agreed profit split 50/50. Joining Tuan's group was his friend Khoa.

Because Tuan's Tiktok sales channel did not get much interaction, Tuan came up with the idea of filming a clip of 4 people wearing black shirts carrying a coffin through the streets, attracting attention and advertising sales. This group then carried the coffin through many streets around Ben Thanh market to film the clip, causing outrage among the online community.

Or like the story that is causing a stir in public opinion around famous Tiktokers like Quang Linh Vlogs, Hang Du Muc and Miss Thuy Tien who are said to have "exaggerated" their advertising for the Kera vegetable candy product, with the introduction "1 candy is equivalent to 1 plate of vegetables".

It can be said that the situation of creating “dirty” content and “exaggerated” advertising is increasingly widespread, creating serious consequences. This is not only an unethical behavior but also has negative impacts on consumers and society in general. Consumers, especially those who lack information and understanding, are easily drawn into false advertising, thereby making wrong purchasing decisions. Once they realize they have been deceived, their trust in products, services and even social networking platforms will seriously decline.

In addition, these behaviors also harm reputable businesses. Legitimate companies face unfair competition from competitors who use tricks, making the market unbalanced and less transparent. Furthermore, it also creates a social media environment full of fake information, causing confusion and undermining the value of quality content.

Strict handling to clean up the network environment

It can be seen that online advertising activities play a very important role in today's business, but if organizations and individuals are not careful and do business honestly, they will suffer "reverse effects". Along with that, if the authorities do not handle it strictly, many more cases like the examples above will occur.

Legal experts say that dealing with those who are motivated to create "dirty" content and "exaggerated" advertising is very necessary to ensure a clean online environment as well as to ensure and protect the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals, while ensuring network security and safety.

In addition, to minimize and prevent this situation, authorities need to strengthen supervision of social networking platforms, check and handle fraudulent behavior, create "dirty" content or "exaggerated" advertising in accordance with the law.

Talking to reporters of Cong Thuong Newspaper about the above issue, lawyer Luong Thanh Dat - Director of Themis Law Firm for Truth LLC - said that local authorities and functional agencies must take stronger action in handling violations. Along with that, there should be community education programs so that people can better understand how to identify and prevent them, as well as organizations and individuals to say no to "excessive" advertising and "dirty" content.

Consumers need to raise awareness, only trust official sources of information, and check carefully before making a purchase decision. At the same time, organizations and individuals must be responsible for providing accurate information about their products and maintaining transparency and compliance with the law when implementing marketing strategies ,” emphasized lawyer Luong Thanh Dat.

Lawyer Dat also recommends that, in order to avoid violating the law, people when posting on social networks should also pay close attention to official information that has been verified to be true, in accordance with the provisions of Vietnamese law, in accordance with the ethical standards and customs of Vietnamese people. Avoid posting with the purpose of attracting views, likes, increasing interactions, and followers on social networks for personal gain and must be held responsible before the law.

The situation of creating “dirty” content and “exaggerated” advertising is increasingly widespread, creating serious consequences. This is not only an unethical behavior but also has negative impacts on consumers and society in general.
