Actively innovate mineral exploitation and processing technology

Up to now, the results of implementing scientific and technological tasks under the program have made positive contributions to the process of innovation and modernization of technology and equipment; improving the technical and technological level in the mineral exploitation and processing industry.

Many research projects and products of the program's topics and projects have been effectively applied to production and business at mining enterprises, especially corporations and general companies, contributing to improving the capacity, production quality and competitiveness of enterprises, as well as creating a premise for the host organization to continue developing scientific and technological research resources.

For example, the topic "Research on building an artificial intelligence toolkit to support the assessment, analysis, and linkage of geological documents, well geophysics, and exploitation data to improve the efficiency of management and exploitation of Hai Thach - Moc Tinh condensate gas field, Block 05-2; 05-3, in the East Sea of ​​Vietnam".

The project has built a big database (BDPOC Big Data) linking geological documents, well geophysics and exploitation data of the HT-MT condensate gas field Block 05-2; 05-3, East Sea; built an artificial intelligence (AI) toolkit to support monitoring, analysis and forecasting to help improve the efficiency of management and exploitation of the HT-MT condensate gas field, help optimize maintenance operation time; minimize incident time or unplanned well closure; ensure the safety and continuous operation of the technology system and help minimize equipment maintenance operation costs.

The application of the research results of the topic at the HT-MT condensate gas field Block 05-2; 05-3, Bien Dong has demonstrated economic efficiency: Contributing to ensuring that 100% of reports on the management and exploitation of the HT-MT condensate gas field are automatically updated with the support of the AI ​​toolkit; reducing at least 15% of the maintenance, repair and operation costs of the HT-MT natural gas processing technology platform cluster compared to the costs in the approved HT-MT field development plan (Field Development Plan - FDP).

At the same time, it allows to establish and adjust production plans within 5 minutes when there is a request for changes in condensate gas mobilization from the distributor; Reduce up to 15% of the number of labor hours required for management, operation, maintenance and exploitation; contribute to reducing 15% of unplanned well shutdown time and thereby contribute to ensuring continuous operating time (operation uptime) of the processing technology cluster when HT-MT is at 99.99%.

In addition, it ensures the accuracy of forecasting operating parameters of pressure, temperature, flow and condensate-gas ratio with a root mean square error (RMSE) of less than 5%. The results of the project open up a new direction in improving the management and exploitation of oil and gas fields, ensuring effective exploitation of precious non-renewable resources and ensuring energy security for the country.

Another example is the project "Research on manufacturing composite systems based on epoxy/MS polymer/polyester to prevent corrosion at the bearing positions of oil and gas collection and transportation pipelines on offshore platforms" chaired by the Vietnam Petroleum Institute.

The project has successfully manufactured a composite system to prevent corrosion of oil and gas collection and transportation pipelines at support positions, to ensure safety for offshore oil and gas exploitation projects; built a technological process using a composite system based on epoxy/ MS polymer/ polyester to prevent corrosion at the support positions of oil and gas collection and transportation pipelines on offshore exploitation platforms.

Along with that, the successful testing was applied at the bearing position of oil and gas collection and transportation pipelines at the CTP-2 central technology platform of the Vietnam - Russia Joint Venture Vietsovpetro. The composite layer based on epoxy/MS polymer/polyester achieved good quality, equivalent to the Wearpad products of CMP Fibalite, Tr.wearTM Pads and Tri.compositeTM Pipe Shoes of AAA technology & specialty co.inc.

The anti-corrosion epoxy/MS polymer/polyester composite system at the bearing position of oil and gas gathering and transport pipelines on offshore platforms is a completely new product, first researched, developed and applied in Vietnam.

The product uses domestic and foreign chemicals and materials, which are tested and tried in practice at the exploitation rig, so it has a lower price than similar products provided by foreign companies. At the same time, it helps increase the initiative of production units, contributing to reducing imported products, bringing out products with domestic brands, thereby contributing to improving the efficiency of oil and gas exploitation and transportation.

The project “Research on the technology of manufacturing demulsifier chemical systems to separate water from crude oil during the process of oil exploitation and transportation” is also chaired by the Vietnam Petroleum Institute. The project has researched and mastered the technology of manufacturing demulsifier chemical systems with the same efficiency as the chemicals currently used on the exploitation platform to separate water from crude oil during the process of oil exploitation and transportation, competing in price with commercial products; successfully manufactured 3 demulsifier chemical systems in the laboratory suitable for each type of oil Bach Ho, Tho Trang, and Rong.

The results of the practical application test at the central technology platform CTP-2, Vietsovpetro Joint Venture showed that during the testing of the VPI-Demul demulsifying chemical system, the operation of the oil collection and transportation system at CTP-2 and UBN VSP-01 operated normally, the remaining water content in the oil was 0.43% and the oil content in the wastewater was within the allowable limit.

The VPI-Demul demulsifying chemical system does not reduce the quality of commercial oil and does not affect the oil treatment quality of other exploited chemicals. Its quality is equivalent to the product currently used at Vietsovpetro, which is DMO 86318V of Baker Hughes and TPS-609 of Thuan Phong Company.

This is the first demulsifying chemical system in Vietnam that is manufactured from basic chemical ingredients and not from semi-finished products like some other chemical systems produced by Vietnamese companies on the market.

Or, the topic "Research on perfecting blasting technology in water-filled rock areas for open-pit coal mines in Quang Ninh" chaired by the Institute of Mining Science and Technology - Vinacomin. The topic proposed and built the technological process and blasting parameters using non-water-resistant emulsion in water-filled mine areas.

Specifically, including: Technology using non-waterproof explosives in plastic bags; technology combining water-proof explosives below and non-waterproof explosives loaded in plastic bags above; technology solution for loading combined water-proof explosives and non-waterproof explosives (without using plastic bags); technology for loading water-proof explosives in areas with different water levels and water recovery rates in boreholes. The application of the project's technology helps reduce 3.57%, equivalent to a reduction of 2,565 VND/m3 in costs for drilling - blasting, loading, and transportation compared to previous blasting technology.
