On the morning of March 22, in Hanoi, the launching ceremony to respond to Earth Hour 2025 with the theme "Green transition - Green future" took place in the Hoan Kiem Lake walking street area, attracting the participation of thousands of people, organizations and businesses.

Launching ceremony in response to Earth Hour 2025 with the theme "Green transition - Green future".

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Ms. Vu Chi Mai, representative of the GIZ Energy Support Programme (GIZ ESP) under the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ), said: “This is the third year we have participated in responding to Earth Hour in Vietnam. Through a series of activities providing information and inspiration on “Green Transition - Green Future”, each individual and organization is further inspired and joins hands to act for a more sustainable future. We hope that through this annual event, awareness and the habit of using energy efficiently and economically will be reinforced, becoming a daily habit, in every behavior of the community. Thus, each individual is joining hands to build a green economy."

Ms. Le Anh Thu, Vice Chairman of Hoan Kiem District People's Committee shared: "This summer is forecasted to be the hottest in history, surpassing the heat wave of 2024. This urges each individual to change their awareness and lifestyle for ourselves and future generations. Hoan Kiem District has taken practical actions to respond to the city's energy saving plan, specifically the district has saved 15.4 million kW of electricity in 2024. We also plan to save 2.2% of electricity consumption in 2025".

The event brought an exciting and vibrant space with a series of diverse interactive activities, including: a creative check-in space, displaying a model of a balcony of an ancient house in Hanoi integrated with a solar power system. This image is not only symbolic but also conveys a strong message about applying renewable energy in daily life.

The cycling activity to generate electricity received enthusiastic response from participants.

In addition, the cycling to generate electricity activity also received enthusiastic responses from participants. The special bicycles not only helped generate electricity to charge phones or light up the “I am for Net-Zero” slogan at the event, but also helped people feel more clearly about the value of clean energy. Many children and their parents participated in the cycling challenge to generate the most electricity, making this playground an educational and exciting experience.

The event atmosphere exploded with the flashmob performance “Green Movement”, gathering a large number of young people from many universities in Hanoi. The vibrant dances not only created a passionate atmosphere but also aroused the sense of responsibility for environmental protection, attracting great attention from the public. In addition, many other outstanding art performances performed by the students themselves contributed to strongly spreading the message of sustainable and environmentally friendly lifestyles.

Mr. Pham The Dung, Deputy Director of the Department of Innovation - Ministry of Science and Technology emphasized: "Every small action responding to Earth Hour today contributes to creating big changes for tomorrow. Green transition is not only a trend, but also an essential driving force for sustainable development and enhancing national competitiveness. Earth Hour 2025 is an opportunity for the community to act together, spreading the values ​​of clean energy use, innovation and application of green technology in life. Through practical initiatives and the cooperation of all individuals and organizations, we can create practical changes, towards a greener and more sustainable future".
