On the same day, the Huong Thuy Town Forest Protection Department received a rare Manouria impressa ( scientific name) from Mr. Bui Ngoc Khanh (residing in Ha village, Duong Hoa commune, Huong Thuy town, Hue City).

Mr. Khanh discovered this bordered mountain tortoise while clearing his family's planted forest on March 21st, and he proceeded to rescue it. Afterward, Mr. Khanh reported the incident to the Huong Thuy Town Forest Protection Department to hand it over.
Upon examination, the bordered mountain tortoise weighed 2.2 kg and was in good health. This is an endangered and rare wild animal species belonging to group IIB, protected under Government Decree 06/2019/ND-CP on the Management of Endangered and Rare Forest Plants and Animals.

Previously, Mr. Nguyen Huu Thao (residing in Thuy Phuong ward, Huong Thuy town) discovered a Javan pangolin (scientific name Manis javanica, an animal listed as critically endangered according to the IUCN Red List, group IB) that had wandered into his garden.
Thanks to awareness campaigns about wildlife protection, Mr. Thao reported the rare animal to the hotline of the Huong Thuy Town Forest Protection Department to hand it over, and it was subsequently released back into the wild.
