* Phuoc Long district urgently completes housing construction for poor households and policy families

On the afternoon of March 21, the working group directing the implementation of the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in Hoa Binh district, Vinh Loi district and Bac Lieu city visited and worked with 2 districts: Vinh Loi and Hoa Binh.

The working group inspected the actual construction progress of a house for Mr. Tran Si Nha (A1 Town Hamlet, Hoa Binh Town, Hoa Binh District).

According to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Vinh Loi district, this year, the locality will build 120 houses for 7 poor households and 113 near-poor households, striving to complete before April 7. District departments, branches and People's Committees of communes and towns mobilize many resources, mobilize organizations and individuals to support funds and working days to help some poor and near-poor households living alone to dismantle old houses and level the ground to build houses.

Hoa Binh district also reported to the working group on the implementation of the second phase of the program (2025), including coordination with the Department of Agriculture and Environment to make a list of households exchanging houses.

Speaking at the working sessions, Mr. Ngo Vu Thang - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, member of the Steering Committee for the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses under the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the working delegation - requested localities to complete the construction of houses for poor and near-poor households before April 30 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification. Housing must meet the "3 hard" criteria of the Ministry of Construction. At the same time, he requested localities to mobilize people to help with labor to build houses, and try to mobilize resources to donate altars so that people have a solemn place to worship Uncle Ho and their ancestors.

The working group also inspected the house construction situation for the following households: Vo Thi Phuong, Le Tuyet Lien (Long Thanh commune, Vinh Loi district), Nguyen Van Chin and Tran Si Nha (Hoa Binh town, Hoa Binh district).

* On the same day, the Steering Committee for Eliminating Temporary and Dilapidated Houses in Phuoc Long District also held a meeting to assess the progress of housing construction under the Program for Eliminating Temporary and Dilapidated Houses and to deploy housing construction for policy families in 2025. In the second phase (2025), the district has 91 houses of poor and near-poor households in need of building houses under the Program for Eliminating Temporary and Dilapidated Houses. To date, the locality has completed the construction of 53 houses, and the construction of the remaining houses is being accelerated.

Regarding housing construction for people with revolutionary contributions and martyrs’ relatives, the whole district has 289 households in need of new construction and repair. However, through investigation and review, 25 houses were not built, so there are 264 houses left, of which 150 houses will be newly built and 114 houses will be repaired. According to plan, the communes and towns will start construction in April 2025.

Phuoc Long District Party Secretary Nguyen Chi Thien requested Party committees at all levels and communes and towns to focus on mobilizing the entire political system. Regarding the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, he directed communes and towns to regularly monitor, inspect and supervise the construction process, ensuring that the houses are completed on time and with quality. Regarding the construction of houses for policy families, comrade Nguyen Chi Thien requested to review the circumstances of each household to have appropriate support measures, especially for those in difficult circumstances and single-parent households. Strive by March 31, the district will complete the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households and by July 27, hand over houses to policy families so that people can work and produce with peace of mind and stabilize their lives.
