Resolutely deal with complicated hotspots of illegal drug buying, selling and use

In the first 6 months of 2023, the National Drug Crime Investigation Police force has fought to eradicate 322 points and 8 complex drug hotspots.

On July 7 in Hanoi, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department (C04), Ministry of Public Security held a conference to review the work of the first 6 months of 2023. Director of C04, Major General Nguyen Van Vien attended and directed the conference.

According to Major General Nguyen Van Vien, complicated locations and gathering places for illegal drug trading and use are a burning issue, causing public outrage, and have received attention and direction from the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security.

In order to combat and eradicate complex drug hotspots, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department has issued many documents directing and guiding localities to fight and resolve them. At the same time, C04 proposed to consider the responsibility for cases of omissions in the review, leaving complex hotspots and gathering places open for a long time, causing negative public opinion, as well as proactively preventing, detecting, stopping, and fighting against re-complication or the formation of new hotspots and gathering places.

"The Drug Crime Investigation Police Department continues to review and plan to deal with complicated locations for illegal drug trading and use. In particular, we will eradicate locations that organize the illegal use of disguised drugs, especially synthetic drugs in service businesses," Major General Nguyen Van Vien emphasized.

According to Department C04, in the first 6 months of 2023, the National Drug Crime Investigation Police force has fought 760 cases, criminally prosecuted 1,603 subjects, and administratively handled 2,646 subjects with drug-related behaviors and other violations at business establishments with conditions on security, order, and sensitive services.

The entire force has successfully fought and discovered more than 15,000 cases, arrested more than 23,000 subjects, seized more than 300 kg of heroin, more than 2 tons of synthetic drugs, 66 kg of opium, 300 kg of cocaine, 70 guns. Arrested, persuaded to surrender, and eliminated 224 subjects wanted for drugs. C04 alone successfully fought 39 cases, 122 subjects, seized more than 86 kg of heroin, more than 353 kg of synthetic drug pills, and more than 300 kg of cocaine.

In the coming time, C04 will focus on establishing a special project to combat large drug trafficking and transportation lines in accordance with the direction of the Ministry of Public Security's leadership, which is to fight the entire line, capture the masterminds and leaders, not let criminals escape, track down the source and origin of drug trafficking, storage and transportation, and gradually reduce the complexity of drug crimes and social evils.

In recognition of the achievements in the first 6 months of 2023, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department had 3 individuals awarded the Order of Merit of various classes, 4 individuals awarded Certificates of Merit by the Prime Minister, 6 collectives and 35 individuals awarded Certificates of Merit by the Minister of Public Security.
