Speaking at the program, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union Do Minh Sang said that An Tuc commune was a revolutionary base in the two resistance wars against France and the US, one of the five heroic communes of the People's Armed Forces, home to the national historical relic Tuc Dup hill, known as the "2 million dollar hill".
Provide local support resources
However, An Tuc is currently one of the five particularly disadvantaged communes with a large Khmer ethnic minority population in Tri Ton district. Therefore, the Provincial Youth Union and the Vietnam Youth Union of An Giang province chose the locality to implement the March Border Month program. Thereby, it aims to educate revolutionary traditions, widely propagate among members and youth about the awareness of building a peaceful, stable, friendly, cooperative and sustainable border; promote the spirit of shock, volunteerism and creativity of youth in participating in socio-economic development, building new rural areas; care for people, youth and teenagers in border areas and ethnic minority areas with many difficulties.
Medical examination and medicine distribution for people
The program mobilized resources of over 600 million VND to care for the people, youth and teenagers of Tri Ton district. Of which, the Youth Social Work Center supported the construction of 2 An Yen bridges in An Tuc commune, worth 400 million VND; the Center for Reading Culture Development and Publishing Economics donated a space for reading and Team activities to An Tuc Secondary School, worth 50 million VND and donated a bookcase with 500 books to 2 primary schools in Tri Ton town; Tri Ton District Youth Union planted 250 new trees, worth 20 million VND.
On this occasion, the An Giang Provincial Young Physicians Association and the Department of Health's Youth Union organized medical examinations and provided free medicine to 250 children and residents of An Tuc commune, with a total value of 50 million VND; the Youth Union of the Government Office, the Provincial Youth Union - the Vietnam Youth Union of the province presented 15 bicycles to students in difficult circumstances with a total value of 22.5 million VND; the Loving Car Trip Club and the True Partner Corporation presented 10 scholarships to students in difficult circumstances, each worth 1.5 million VND, including backpacks, school supplies and cash...
