The 35 wild animals include 5 species of pythons (5 individuals), striped-necked turtles (3 individuals), toothed turtles (6 individuals), large land turtles (7 individuals), and three-ridged turtles (14 individuals). These wild animals were voluntarily handed over by organizations and individuals to the Ho Chi Minh City Forest Protection Department in the past time.
Forest rangers release pythons back into the wild
Among them is a 63 kg python that Mr. Dang Dinh Quoc (55 years old, in Tan Thoi Nhi commune, Hoc Mon district) voluntarily handed over to the forest rangers on February 15.
Mr. Quoc raised this python since it was small. After 23 years, the python is very big and long. Seeing the huge python, many people asked to buy it, but Mr. Quoc did not sell it, but handed it over to the forest rangers to release it back into the wild.
Pythons are released into the wild.
It is known that at the time Mr. Quoc's family handed over the python to the forest rangers, this was a female python measuring 4.5 meters long and weighing 63 kg (scientific name is Python bivittatus, belonging to group IIB in the list of endangered and rare forest animals), the largest in size that the Ho Chi Minh City forest rangers have received in more than 10 years.
Many turtles were also released into the wild.
Previously, on May 27, the Ho Chi Minh City Forest Protection Department announced that it had coordinated with the Phuoc Binh National Park Management Board (Ninh Thuan Province) to release 28 wild animals into the natural environment. The 28 wild animals belong to 7 species: Javan pangolin, golden mountain tortoise, black-backed box turtle, long-tailed macaque, golden monkey, pig-tailed macaque, and red-faced macaque.
