In recent times, the People's Committees of districts, cities and towns have implemented many synchronous solutions to manage and develop existing forest areas, especially before, during and after the Lunar New Year.
The province currently has nearly 169,000 hectares of forest, of which protective forests are over 32,000 hectares; special-use forests are over 16,000 hectares; over 120,000 hectares of production forests, with a forest coverage of 39.7%. In recent times, the work of forest management, protection, and wildlife protection in the province has been proactively and effectively implemented by local Party committees, authorities at all levels, functional sectors, and forest owners; awareness, consciousness, and responsibility of the whole society regarding forest protection and wildlife protection have had many positive changes; violations of forestry laws in the province in 2024 have decreased in terms of the number of cases, scale, and area of damaged forests; forest environmental security has been maintained stably.
In order to continue to effectively strengthen the implementation of forest management and protection, wildlife protection in the area, especially before, during and after the Lunar New Year 2025, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has promptly advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue Document No. 78/SNN-KL dated January 14, 2025, directing departments, branches, localities, and forest owners to effectively implement tasks and solutions. Accordingly, the People's Committees of districts, cities, and towns have stepped up propaganda and dissemination of the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws on forest protection and development and forest fire prevention and control, focusing on implementing the Secretariat's directives, resolutions, and conclusions; documents of the Forest Protection Department on strengthening forest management and protection, forest fire prevention and control, and forest fire prevention and control safety inspection.
For the District and Commune People's Committees, closely coordinate with the forest rangers, forest owners and related units to organize inter-sectoral forces to deploy checkpoints and patrols in areas at high risk of forest fires, deforestation, encroachment on forest land, and illegal exploitation of forest products in the management area, especially natural forests, to promptly prevent and strictly handle violations of the Forestry Law; organize forces and means according to the 4-on-the-spot motto, ready to respond and control when forest fires occur; assign and decentralize state management responsibilities for forests and forestry land, the role of leaders, clarify the responsibilities of irresponsible units, organizations and individuals who allow violations to occur and handle them according to the provisions of law.
At the same time, strengthen propaganda and education to raise awareness and responsibility in forest fire prevention and control work; inspect, urge and guide people to control the use of fire in and near forests, especially slash-and-burn farming activities; immediately stop using fire to treat vegetation and other fire-using behaviors that risk causing forest fires. Monitor information on forecasts and warnings of forest fire risks to check and detect forest fires early and take timely measures...
During the Lunar New Year, the forces maintain a sufficient number of troops to stay close to the area, on duty 24/7; promptly provide information on mass media, forest fire forecasts and warnings for each area so that local authorities, relevant units and forest owners can proactively deploy forest fire prevention and control plans; have specific forest fire fighting plans suitable for each area at risk of forest fires, promptly control forest fires, and prevent large fires from occurring. At the same time, prepare means, equipment... to be ready to respond when a forest fire occurs.
Comrade Tran Quang Dong - Deputy Head of the Provincial Forest Protection Department said: In order to proactively prevent violations of the Forestry Law before, during and after the Lunar New Year 2025, and minimize forest damage, the Forest Protection Department has requested localities to direct forces to strengthen inspection and fire prevention, minimize forest fires, and especially recommend that people, especially those living in forest edge areas and in the forest, need to raise awareness in forest fire prevention and control. The use of fire, in and around the forest must ensure forest fire prevention and control safety; especially at temples, pagodas, and areas inside and around the forest, it is necessary to increase warning signs, prohibition signs, and guide tourists and people to use fire when burning incense and votive papers during the Lunar New Year in accordance with regulations, ensuring fire prevention and control safety... to prevent fires from spreading into the forest.
