TPO - The Meteorological Agency forecasts that in November, Ho Chi Minh City will enter a period of reduced rainfall. In the last days of the month, there will be a widespread rainstorm lasting several days. After this rainstorm, most of the Southern region will likely end the rainy season and begin the dry season.

According to the Southern Hydrometeorological Station, in November, the rainfall in Ho Chi Minh City tends to decrease significantly compared to October, however, there are still rainy days mixed with dry days. In particular, the first 10 days of the month have a lot of rain, the middle 10 days of the month have less rain, only a few days have rain caused by simple easterly wind disturbances. In the last 10 days of the month, the low pressure trough is likely to become stronger and lift its axis to the north with the possibility of a low pressure area appearing in the southern East Sea, causing a period of rain for 2-3 days.

Specifically, in the first 10 days of the month, the continental cold high pressure continued to strengthen in the North and Central regions on November 1 and 2. The period of strengthening became stronger around November 5 and 6 and then continuously strengthened until the end of the first week of the month.

The low pressure trough passes through the Southern region, with an axis at about 7-10 degrees north latitude; the first half of the week connects with low pressure areas in the central or southern East Sea. From the middle to the end of the week, it tends to weaken and be compressed to the south and weaken. The main influence on the weather in the region during the last 4-5 days of the week is the southern edge of the cold high pressure tongue that strengthens and diffuses to the south. Above, the subtropical high pressure with an axis over the North gradually encroaches to the west in the first half of the week, and in the second half of the week, the axis lifts to the north, with little impact on the weather in the region.

Weather in Ho Chi Minh City on November 1-2: The area is affected by two weather systems: cold air strengthening and diffusing to the south and a low pressure trough with an axis at about 8-12 degrees north latitude. Therefore, the weather in the area will have widespread rain with the possibility of rain in the early morning of November 2.

November 3-4: The cold air has not weakened yet, but the conflict between the two systems is less intense. Rain has decreased, only scattered in some places; The days are more sunny and the temperature increases slightly.

November 5-7: Cold air strengthens and diffuses more strongly to the south, accompanied by disturbances in the easterly wind zone causing rain in the area; there is a possibility of rain even in the early morning, but the rainfall is mostly light rain, with some places having moderate rain.

November 8-10: This is the period when cold air diffuses deep to the south, greatly affecting the weather in the Southern region, so the rain decreases, mostly just insignificant light rain. The highest temperature is 30-33 degrees; the lowest is 24-26 degrees. The average temperature is approximately equal to and higher than the average of many years (TBNN) for the same period by 0.2-0.5 degrees, ranging from 27.0-28.0 degrees. The total rainfall in the first 10 days of the month is approximately equal to or higher than the TBNN with the total rainfall commonly ranging from 60-130mm.

During the middle 10 days of the month, the cold air will strengthen and diffuse southward, becoming stronger and stronger. During the middle week of November, there will be 2-3 chances of cold air strengthening, some lasting 4-5 days. Accompanying the strengthening will be disturbances in the easterly wind zone, which can cause showers and thunderstorms in the area for about 1-2 days.

The weather in Ho Chi Minh City has less rain than the first week of the month, mostly only a few places have scattered rain with mostly not much rain lasting for 1-2 days and then returning to no rain in the entire area. The northeast monsoon is quite stable with increasing intensity. In some places, it is likely that the rainy season will end in the middle of November or from the last few days of the first week of November. The total rainfall in the 10 days in the middle of the month is generally higher than the average for the same period, from 30-80mm. The average temperature is approximately the same and higher than the average for the same period from 0.2-0.7 degrees.

In the last days of November, there will be about 2-3 waves of strengthening to the south and spreading to the area of cold air. The low pressure trough is active and tends to lift its axis slightly to the north with the possibility of low pressure areas appearing in the southern East Sea and affecting the weather in coastal areas and mainland of the South.

The subsequent strengthening of the cold air will also cause interaction between the two systems and is likely to cause widespread rain in the Ho Chi Minh City area. This rain, in some locations, may be unseasonal rain because the rainy season has ended earlier, but in some places it will likely be the last rainy days of the rainy season in 2024.

The weather in Ho Chi Minh City area has more rain than the middle of the month with the possibility of scattered rain in many places lasting about 2-3 days with scattered thunderstorms in many places; some places have the possibility of moderate to heavy rain. Beware of tornadoes, lightning, and gusts of wind during thunderstorms.

After this widespread rain lasting several days, it is likely that most of the Southern region will end the rainy season and begin the dry season. However, it is not impossible that there are still some places where, although the rain has decreased significantly, the rainy season will continue until early next month. The total rainfall in the last 10 days of November in Ho Chi Minh City will be higher than the average for the same period, commonly from 40-100mm. The average temperature is approximately equal to and higher than the average for the same period from 0.2-0.4 degrees.
