Tourism Development Support Fund (under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) and Grab Vietnam officially signed a 5-year cooperation agreement.
The signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement took place under the witness of Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Pham Minh Chinh and Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore Lawrence Wong, on the occasion of the official visit to Vietnam of Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.
The Tourism Development Support Fund recognizes that the signing of the Cooperation Agreement between the Fund and Grab Vietnam will facilitate the promotion of Vietnam's tourism image to domestic and international tourists and contribute to the digital transformation journey, promoting the sustainable development of the tourism industry.
Within the framework of this cooperation, Grab will become a preferred transportation and e-commerce partner, continuing to make practical contributions to improving the experience of tourists when coming to Vietnam with a seamless service chain from transportation, delivery, ordering food, goods, and cashless payments. With the advantage of being the No. 1 ride-hailing application in terms of the most used brand 1 and a nationwide service network, Grab can not only connect domestic and foreign tourists with public transportation systems such as airports, train stations, bus stations, etc., but can also bring a seamless, quality and safe travel experience at famous tourist destinations. In addition to transportation services, domestic and foreign tourists can also use the Grab application to enjoy local cuisine or shop for specialties, creating a complete and memorable travel experience in Vietnam.
Within the framework of the 5-year cooperation, the two sides will focus on a number of key areas. Firstly, taking advantage of technological strengths to promote digital transformation associated with communication and promoting Vietnamese tourism. The Tourism Development Support Fund and Grab Vietnam will take advantage of their strengths to contribute to making Vietnam one of the priority destinations for foreign tourists, while stimulating domestic tourism. At the same time, the two sides will also promote the cultural values, heritage and cuisine of Vietnam.
The Fund plans to coordinate the implementation of the following activities: Cooperate with travel agencies to develop international travel packages on the Grab application to enhance the experience of tourists when coming to Vietnam; promote tourism services in clusters of provinces and cities to encourage tourists to visit neighboring provinces and cities at the same time; promote Vietnamese tourism and the Grab application through domestic and foreign media channels; enhance public utilities serving tourists and local people.
In parallel, Grab is also committed to accompanying major cultural and social events to enhance the tourist experience and contribute to developing local tourism potential.
Second, promote digital transformation to promote local cuisine and specialties. The two sides will support and guide micro, small and medium-sized businesses to access digital platforms and use digital tools to improve business efficiency, participate in e-commerce activities, and make cashless payments.
In addition, Grab promotes local cuisine both in and out of the app, helping tourists easily access reliable information and have memorable culinary experiences in Vietnam. Typically, in addition to the Grab app, Grab plans to continue promoting local cuisine on GrabCar and sponsor additional benches with QR codes promoting local cuisine at popular tourist destinations. On the Grab app, users can easily find "famous" restaurants on GrabFood and order food with various promotions.
In addition to these key focuses, the Tourism Development Support Fund and Grab Vietnam will also devote more resources to enhancing the digitalization of local tourism destinations through new utilities on the Grab platform.
Ms. Hoang Thi Kim Anh, Director of the Tourism Development Support Fund, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that with the operational goal of promoting, promoting and supporting the development of Vietnam tourism in an effective and sustainable manner, the Tourism Development Support Fund hopes that the cooperation with Grab will contribute to promoting the role and strengths of the Fund and towards the goal of making Vietnam tourism truly a spearhead economic sector.
According to Mr. Alejandro Osorio, Managing Director of Grab Vietnam, tourism is currently one of the important sectors contributing to Vietnam's GDP growth and is oriented to become the country's spearhead economic sector by 2030.

Grab has actively strengthened cooperation with authorities at all levels to promote digital transformation in many areas, not only to better serve users but also to join hands with agencies and sectors to create new driving forces for sustainable socio-economic development.
Recently, Grab signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Hue City to implement programs and initiatives to support the city's digital transformation goals. Previously, Grab also signed Memorandums of Understanding with Hanoi Railway Company Limited and Ho Chi Minh City Railway Company Limited No. 1 to contribute to the management and development of transportation and the development of services and products for smart transportation in Vietnam.
The Tourism Development Support Fund was established under Decision No. 49/QD-TTg dated December 12, 2018 of the Prime Minister, operating under the model of a single-member limited liability company with 100% of charter capital held by the State, with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as the representative owner. The Fund's operational purposes include four contents: Promoting domestic and foreign tourism; supporting market research and tourism product development; supporting training and development of tourism human resources; supporting tourism communication activities in the community. The Fund undertakes the important task of developing plans and allocating funds to organize and implement tourism promotion activities and support tourism development activities, in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Tourism as well as in accordance with Vietnam's tourism development strategy and planning.
