On the morning of March 25, in Hanoi, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy chaired a working session with leaders of Hung Yen province to unify the contents and tasks of the National Target Program on Cultural Development for the 2025-2030 period and the National Target Program on New Rural Development for the 2021-2025 period. Co-chairing the meeting was Vice Chairman of Hung Yen Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duy Hung.
At the meeting, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hung Yen province, Mr. Do Huu Nhan, presented a report on outstanding results in the work of preserving and promoting local cultural and tourism values.
According to statistics, Hung Yen currently owns 1,804 relics of all kinds, including 177 national relics, 279 provincial relics, 4 special national relics and 8 national treasures along with thousands of valuable documents and antiques.
Not only stopping at tangible heritage, the province's intangible cultural treasure is also extremely rich with more than 500 traditional festivals, many of which are large-scale, rich in identity, and the pride of the people of the "land of longan".
Target to attract 4.5 - 5.5 million tourists
In recent years, the work of preserving cultural heritage and developing tourism has always received deep attention from leaders at all levels, creating a driving force to promote local socio-economic development. The harmonious combination of preservation and development has brought about many remarkable achievements, helping Hung Yen not only preserve traditional cultural values but also create a solid foundation for tourism to become a spearhead economic sector.
In particular, the issuance of Resolution No. 13-NQ/TU by the 19th Provincial Party Executive Committee dated October 8, 2021 on preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritage and historical relics associated with tourism development in the 2021-2025 period, with a vision to 2030, has demonstrated a strong determination to turn Hung Yen into an attractive destination, both preserving the soul of national culture and contributing to sustainable development.
According to Mr. Do Huu Nhan - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hung Yen province, the province has issued hundreds of management documents and synchronous instructions from the provincial to grassroots levels, promoting the conservation and promotion of cultural heritage values, and organizing propaganda and tourism promotion activities in a creative and effective manner.
Thanks to that, the number of tourists coming to Hung Yen is increasing, especially the application of information technology and digital transformation has brought about positive changes. However, besides the achievements, the province's culture and tourism sector still faces many difficulties.
Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hung Yen province Do Huu Nhan reported at the meeting.
Cultural development has not really been commensurate with economic growth; state budget support for the restoration and embellishment of relics is still limited while the need for heritage conservation is huge. The cultural industry develops slowly, and the protection of relics in some places still faces many challenges.
Towards the period of 2025-2030, Hung Yen aims to attract 4.5 to 5.5 million tourists, including about 60,000 - 70,000 international visitors. The province also focuses on developing an accommodation system with a scale of 15,400 - 16,000 rooms, ensuring that at least 30% meet the standards of 3 stars or higher.
In particular, the province is proposing to include a number of key tasks in the National Target Program on cultural development, including planning to preserve and restore important relics such as the Nom Village Relic Ecological Museum Project (Van Lam district), the Da Hoa - Da Trach Special National Relic Site (Khoai Chau district), and investment projects to restore valuable historical and cultural relics.
Need long-term and focused strategy
At the meeting, Vice Chairman of Hung Yen Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duy Hung, together with representatives of provincial departments and branches and leaders of a number of units under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, contributed specific opinions on each proposed task to be included in the National Target Program (NTP) on cultural development for the period 2025-2030.
Concluding the meeting, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy expressed her agreement with the content of the report of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hung Yen province, and highly appreciated the province's efforts in preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritage.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that Hung Yen has paid special attention to this field, demonstrated by the Provincial Party Committee's issuance of a separate Resolution on the heritage conservation program associated with tourism development. Thanks to that, historical and cultural relics in the area are not only protected but also become a driving force for socio-economic development.
Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy concluded the meeting.
Deputy Minister Trinh Thi Thuy said that with the advantage of possessing a rich heritage treasure, Hung Yen needs to identify heritage as a pillar for development, turning cultural values into a driving force for other fields.
Accordingly, the Deputy Minister proposed that the province prioritize a number of important tasks: developing a master plan to preserve, restore and implement the Nom Village Relic Ecological Museum Project (Van Lam); restoring the ancient urban area of Pho Hien; protecting and promoting intangible cultural heritage such as folk knowledge of growing and processing longan, traditional festival of An Xa Temple (Tien Lu), aiming to propose UNESCO recognition.
In addition, instead of focusing on a single art form, the Deputy Minister suggested that Hung Yen should build a Traditional Art Center, a place where typical art forms of the Red River Delta converge. In addition, the Deputy Minister also proposed organizing a "Longan Festival" on a large scale, becoming a typical cultural and tourism brand of the province.
Emphasizing the spirit of companionship and support, Deputy Minister Trinh Thi Thuy expects Hung Yen to continue researching and perfecting the proposal to ensure the highest feasibility for the National Target Program on cultural development.
With a methodical, focused and focused strategy, Hung Yen can completely become a pioneer model in implementing this program, contributing to spreading cultural values and promoting sustainable development.
