TPO - The construction site of Dai Ngai 2 bridge across Hau River connecting Tra Vinh and Soc Trang is entering the final stage, workers are working through the night with the determination to be ready for technical traffic on April 30, 2025, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of national reunification.
In the last days of March, under the scorching sun of the dry season in the West, many workers are still working hard at the construction site of Dai Ngai 2 Bridge. According to Tien Phong reporters on March 25, the working atmosphere is bustling, workers are busy with the stages of completing the bridge. At the head of the bridge, a group of engineers are reinforcing the items connecting to Nam Song Hau road. Under the bridge, the structural inspection team is working tirelessly to ensure the quality of the project. |
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tong, representative of Thuan An Group Joint Stock Company, the construction unit of Dai Ngai 2 Bridge on the southern bank of Hau River, said: "The workers worked early in the morning to avoid the harsh sunlight. Everyone tried their best to meet the schedule, because the bridge has been awaited by the people for many years." |
Ms. Huynh Thi Deo, a resident of Long Duc commune, Soc Trang, excitedly said: "Every day I come here to see the bridge growing and I am very happy. I just hope for the inauguration day, to step onto the bridge and see the river from above." |
The Dai Ngai Bridge project has a total investment of nearly 8,000 billion VND, with a total length of more than 15km. The starting point intersects with National Highway 54 in Tieu Can District, Tra Vinh; the end point connects with Nam Song Hau National Highway in Long Phu District, Soc Trang. The project consists of 2 main bridges, Dai Ngai 1 Bridge is more than 3km long, cable-stayed structure, spanning Dinh An channel, 2 A-shaped towers 110m high, with a main span diagram of 210 + 450 + 210m. Meanwhile, Dai Ngai 2 Bridge is 862m long, including 13 spans, with a cantilevered main span structure of 330m long. |
Not only does it help replace the Dai Ngai ferry system, the bridge also plays a particularly important role in connecting traffic, creating momentum for socio-economic development for the coastal provinces of the South. The bridge crosses the Hau River in the area near the Tran De estuary, connecting Cu Lao Dung island district with the mainland, breaking the isolation of this locality. With positive progress, Dai Ngai 2 Bridge was closed on January 5, 2025, 6 months ahead of schedule. It is expected that on April 30, 2025, the project will officially open to technical traffic. |
Once completed, Dai Ngai Bridge (including Dai Ngai 1 and Dai Ngai 2 Bridges) will, together with Rach Mieu, Ham Luong and Co Chien Bridges, help the Mekong Delta develop transportation, trade and tourism. |
