Staff of the professional unit have been directly counting vehicles at the Do Duc Duc - Pham Hung intersection in recent days.

On the morning of March 26, reporters recorded at the Do Duc Duc - Pham Hung intersection, there was a long traffic jam on Pham Hung Street in both directions (Mai Dich and Thanh Xuan) leading to the intersection.

One of the reasons is that the time it takes for vehicles on Pham Hung Street to pass through the intersection waiting for the red light is longer than other directions (nearly 100 seconds/interval), while the number of vehicles from Do Duc Duc Street or the road from the Nam Trung Yen area to the intersection is very small.

Along with that, the number of vehicles turning left from Pham Hung Street to Do Duc Duc Street is not much, at times there are "no cars" (red arrow direction).

Due to heavy traffic and long waiting time for red lights, every time the green light ends, there are still many vehicles from Pham Hung Street in both directions wanting to pass through the intersection, and when the traffic light turns red, they are already congested.

Based on the above reality, the Department of Construction has assigned the Traffic Infrastructure Maintenance Board to coordinate with professional units to count traffic flow in all directions at the intersection.

In particular, the direction of the road from Do Duc Duc and the road in Nam Trung Yen area passing through the intersection is required to have data and record the most specific number of vehicles including cars and motorbikes passing through the intersection. From there, it will be the basis for the Department of Construction to implement a traffic organization plan, including adjusting the traffic light nodes accordingly. This work is required by the Department of Construction to be completed in March 2025.

Speaking with Tien Phong reporter, the representative of the vehicle counting team at the Do Duc Duc - Pham Hung intersection said that in the first few days of counting, within 1 hour of rush hour, the vehicle counting staff recorded a maximum of more than 1,700 vehicles passing through the intersection/direction, of which motorbikes accounted for 70% and cars accounted for 30%.
