Việt NamViệt Nam29/11/2024

The total number of passengers passing through airports under the Vietnam Airports Corporation during the Lunar New Year 2025 could reach 10.5 million.

Many flights during Lunar New Year currently have occupancy rates of up to 70% - 80%.

Port Corporation Air Vietnam (ACV) estimates that the total number of passengers passing through ACV airports during the Lunar New Year 2025 could reach 10.5 million (higher than the 10 million arrivals of the peak month of Tet 2024).

To meet the increasing number of passengers, the Civil Aviation Authority has agreed to maximize the capacity to serve the flight at airports. For example, at Tan Son Nhat airport, there will be an increase of 46 flights/hour from 5am to 11:55pm every day, a significant increase compared to the normal day average (from 38-40 flights/hour). Regarding the time to prepare for flights, it has been shortened to 25-42 minutes compared to about 60 minutes before, to increase the aircraft utilization rate.

On November 28, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam released a survey of ticket price data of Vietnamese airlines on January 15, 2025 (ie December 16, Giap Thin year) on the Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi route (the most frequent route and also the route with the largest number of passengers) with an average ticket price of about 1.8 million VND - 2.8 million VND/way.

For the Hanoi - Da Nang flight of Vietjet Air in the period from January 22, 20215 - January 26, 2025 (ie December 23, Giap Thin year), the ticket price is from 1.4 - 1.7 million VND/way (excluding taxes and fees); Vietnam Airlines has a similar average ticket price during this period.

Regarding ticket prices for peak periods after the Lunar New Year of At Ty 2025, surveyed on February 1, 2025 (ie January 4, At Ty year), the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City route of airlines is currently at an average price of about 3.2-4 million VND/way. Of which, Vietnam Airlines has a ticket price of about 3.7 million VND/way; Vietjet Air has a ticket price range of 3.3-3.6 million VND/way...

Many flights during the Lunar New Year currently have occupancy rates of up to 70% - 80%, focusing on flights from Ho Chi Minh City to northern and central provinces such as Thanh Hoa, Quy Nhon, Chu Lai, Dong Hoi, etc. The number of passengers is forecast to continue to increase sharply next month.

Airlines recommend that passengers book flights early to get preferential prices and buy tickets on the airline's website, mobile application, ticket offices and official agents. To avoid buying fake tickets or tickets with inflated prices during the Tet peak season, passengers should buy tickets on the website, mobile application, ticket offices, official agents and request an invoice.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam said that it will continue to monitor the situation of seat reservations and airfares on domestic routes to promptly direct airlines to supplement capacity on routes with high demand, meeting passenger demand during the peak period of the Lunar New Year 2025.

In addition, from January 14, 2025 to February 12, 2025, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has requested the Vietnam Airports Corporation - ACV and the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation - VATM to direct units to proactively arrange resources, coordinate with airlines and units operating at airports to deploy night flight operations from 0:00 - 24:00 every day (local time) at Tho Xuan, Dong Hoi, Chu Lai, Phu Cat, Pleiku and Tuy Hoa airports.

In addition, in order to meet the exploitation plans of airlines during the peak period of Lunar New Year 2025, the Civil Aviation Authority has also deployed preparations as well as created conditions for airlines to supplement their fleets; adjusted the parameters for coordinating landing and take-off times at Tan Son Nhat International Airport (from January 14, 2025 to February 12, 2025).

The agency also directed units serving in the air transport chain to develop plans, prepare resources, and be ready to serve night time slots.
