More than 242 billion VND has been donated by units and people, contributing to building more new houses for poor and disadvantaged households in Quang Ngai province.
More than 240 billion VND from kind hearts to build houses for the poor
On the morning of November 28, the Steering Committee for the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in Quang Ngai province held a ceremony to launch a campaign to support the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the area.
Quang Ngai Provincial Party Secretary Bui Thi Quynh Van launched a call for support to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province.
Speaking at the ceremony, Secretary of the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee Bui Thi Quynh Van emphasized: Eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses is one of the major policies of the Party and State to help the poor escape poverty and stabilize their lives.
In the context of the province's limited resources, Quang Ngai really needs the cooperation of the whole society to implement the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses.
On behalf of the Steering Committee for the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in the province, the Secretary of the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee launched and called on agencies, units, localities, cadres, civil servants, public employees, soldiers of the armed forces, and people from all walks of life inside and outside the province to actively support in the spirit of "compatriot love, national love".
Representatives of Hoa Phat Group donated 30 billion VND to Quang Ngai province to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses at the launching ceremony.
"Whoever has something should help, whoever has merit should help merit, whoever has property should help property, whoever has a lot should help a lot, whoever has a little should help a little, together, join hands to support the elimination of temporary houses, dilapidated houses, especially households with meritorious services to the revolution, poor households, near-poor households, households living in areas with especially difficult economic conditions, areas frequently affected by natural disasters, with the motto "leaving no one behind", the Quang Ngai Secretary called.
Immediately after the ceremony, many agencies, units, and businesses inside and outside the province donated more than 242 billion VND to join hands with Quang Ngai to completely eliminate temporary and leaky houses by 2025.
Efforts to eliminate nearly 10,000 temporary and dilapidated houses
In Quang Ngai province, from 2021 to present, it has supported the construction and repair of houses for more than 9,000 poor and near-poor households with housing difficulties with a total cost of nearly 400 billion VND.
However, the rate of poor and near-poor households in Quang Ngai province is still high, and the lives of a part of the people, especially those in rural areas, mountainous areas, and islands, are still difficult.
According to statistics, the whole province still has about 9,797 households with revolutionary contributions and martyrs' relatives; poor households, near-poor households, households negatively affected by natural disasters and climate change living in temporary houses, dilapidated houses, unsafe houses or no houses.
Journalist Duong Hien Cu, Head of the Representative Office of Nhan Dan Newspaper in Quang Ngai, on behalf of the Editorial Board of Nhan Dan Newspaper, presented Quang Ngai with 500 million VND to support the province in eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses.
In response to the Prime Minister's call to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, Quang Ngai province has established a Steering Committee to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. It is determined that by the end of 2025, all temporary and dilapidated houses, with a total number of nearly 10,000 houses, will be eliminated.
The Steering Committee for Eliminating Temporary and Dilapidated Houses in the Province requires all levels, sectors and localities to carry out the work proactively, positively, flexibly and creatively; ensuring fairness and transparency, and preventing waste and negativity.
In addition, promptly remove difficulties in land to build houses for people; strengthen inspection of prices of house-building materials.
Leaders of Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee presented flowers to thank businesses and philanthropists for their contributions at the launching ceremony.
"With high determination, great efforts, and drastic actions of the entire political system and society, we believe that the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province will receive positive responses and support, to achieve the goal of all for the prosperous and happy life of the people," Ms. Van emphasized.
