The "trend" of hunting for stamps on "Ha Giang passports" is increasingly attracting the attention of many tourists. What is special about this "passport"?

"Ha Giang passport trend" - unique travel experience

Appearing on social networks since early February 2025, the "Ha Giang passport" has quickly become a trend attracting thousands of tourists, especially young people. Instead of stopping at familiar check-in points, this trend encourages tourists to spend time exploring Ha Giang in depth, going to little-known places to accumulate a complete set of stamps.

The "passport" is sold at the ice cream counter at the Km0 milestone in Ha Giang for 30,000 VND/book. In the "passport" there will be a list of travel experiences to try in Ha Giang and notes when traveling here.

In particular, the "passport" will have a list of 12 popular tourist destinations in Ha Giang and each destination will have a stamp. Tourists will receive a stamp for each destination they visit. This is a completely new way of "checking in", making many tourists curious.

Mr. To Thai Hung, the creator of the "Ha Giang passport".

Sharing with reporters, Mr. To Thai Hung (29 years old, in Ho Chi Minh City) - Author of the "passport" that is causing a stir said: "The first Ha Giang Passport was officially launched on February 1. This is the result of a long process of research, design and testing to ensure that the product is not only beautiful in form but also truly brings value to tourists and the local community".

According to Mr. Hung, the idea of Ha Giang Passport comes from the desire to help tourists have a more complete and memorable experience of this land.

"Instead of just checking in, taking photos and leaving, the tourist passport will create motivation for people to explore more, delve deeper into the culture and scenery of Ha Giang.

In addition, I was also inspired by the tourist passport models in Japan and Korea, where visitors can collect stamps at famous scenic spots. I think that if Ha Giang had such a version, it would help visitors connect more closely with each place they visit," Hung shared.

Regarding the process of creating this product, Mr. Hung said the biggest challenge was how to make the Ha Giang passport not only a tourism product, but also a truly valuable experience for tourists.

"At first, it was not easy to convince tourist attractions, homestays, and cafes to participate in the stamping system. My team and I had to explain a lot about the benefits of passports for local tourism. Designing and producing the stamps was also a challenge, because each stamp had to be unique, representing that location, while being easily recognizable and beautiful.

In addition, when the product was launched, how to spread this idea to more tourists was also a difficult problem. Thanks to social networks and travel enthusiasts, this trend quickly spread," said Mr. Hung.

Desire to bring meaningful tourism products

Through this passport, Mr. Hung hopes that tourists will not only understand more about tourist destinations but also explore the culture, people and local cuisine. The 12 selected locations are arranged so that tourists can conveniently pass through on a route to explore Ha Giang, creating a complete journey.

According to Mr. Hung, this list is not fixed. In the future, there may be new locations added, depending on the development of local tourism.

Since its release, the "Ha Giang passport" has received a lot of attention from domestic and international tourists.

Having a separate landmark stamping system for Ha Giang helps create a unique identity for the province's tourism industry, different from other destinations.

"Up to now, about 1,000 passport books have been issued. There are even tourists who return to Ha Giang a second or third time just to complete the stamp collection, which shows that this idea really creates a long-term connection with this land."

Through this tourism product, Mr. Hung said he hopes that the "Ha Giang passport" will bring a new, deeper and more meaningful way of experiencing tourism. It is not simply a book to collect stamps, but also helps promote sustainable tourism, encouraging tourists to explore not only famous places but also the beauty of culture, cuisine and people of Ha Giang. At the same time, it helps tourists create memorable memories, so that each trip is not just a visit but a truly meaningful journey.

Check-in points are open from 7am to 5pm daily.

"When I first launched, I just thought this was a way to make tourism more interesting, but I didn't expect to receive such a strong response. Posts shared by tourists, stories about stamp hunting journeys, groups of friends planning to conquer 12 points in the passport... all of these are great motivations for me to continue developing the project.

There are moments that really move me, like when I see a small family exploring Ha Giang together, each child eagerly waiting to get stamped, or when I hear a young person say "Thanks to this passport, I can really explore Ha Giang, not just go there for the sake of it".

Those responses make me believe that this is not only a tourism product but also a bridge between people and this land. And that is the most meaningful thing to me," Mr. Hung shared.
