The Smart City Conference and Exhibition 2025 (SCSE) attracted more than 600 exhibitors, 150 city representatives and 200 expert-led sessions. The number of international visitors to the event was also a record high (up 28% compared to last year). Specifically, 2,806 international visitors came from 59 countries and territories, 138 cities. Of which, the 5 countries with the largest number of visitors were: Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Japan and Hungary.
Before and during the opening ceremony, Taiwanese leaders and international experts shared engaging content on AI-driven governance, smart healthcare, digital transformation, and global smart city cooperation.
Mr. Charles Lin, Vice Mayor of Kaohsiung City (Taiwan), said: "Kaohsiung is at the forefront of smart city innovation, integrating 5G, AI and big data to create efficient public services, sustainable infrastructure and improve healthcare systems. With the rapid advancement of technology, SCSE 2025 provides an important platform for cities to learn from each other and promote meaningful transformation."

“Digital transformation is no longer a choice but a necessity,” said Jiunn Shiow Lin, from the Taiwan Digital Development Agency. The agency is accelerating Taiwan’s smart city agenda by promoting innovation in AI-driven governance, digital security, smart healthcare, and urban infrastructure. “SCSE 2025 serves as a bridge between industry and government, contributing to shaping the cities of the future,” he added.
From the perspective of the leader of the Orange County government (USA), Mr. Steven M. Neuhaus, said: "The future of smart cities lies in global strategic partnerships and the application of digital solutions that improve the lives of people. The Smart Cities Conference and Exhibition provides an important opportunity to explore the interplay between countries and regions, ensuring that together we build smarter urban environments."
The exhibition activities in Taipei will last until March 21.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Paul SL Peng, President of the Taipei Computer Association (TCA), emphasized: "SCSE 2025 will be a landmark event for AI-driven smart city innovation. Taipei and Kaohsiung's leadership in supply chain digitalization, sustainable infrastructure, and AI integration are shaping the future of smart urban ecosystems."
With the theme of "Digital and Green Transformation", this year's largest smart city exhibition in the Asia-Pacific region focuses on AI applications, smart governance, energy efficiency, virtual power plants, sustainability towards net zero emissions and global cooperation. The Smart City 2025 Conference and Exhibition takes place in Taipei from March 18 to 21 and Kaohsiung from March 20 to 22.
