It is known that Xiaomi took 229 days to ship the first 100,000 electric vehicles since the start of sales. The next 100,000 vehicles were delivered to customers within 119 days.

Working overtime, Xiaomi still cannot produce to meet demand

Since last summer, Xiaomi's electric vehicle assembly plant in China has been operating in double shifts but still can't keep up with demand, with delivery wait times stretching to at least seven months.

The Xiaomi SU7 is Xiaomi’s first electric vehicle to enter the electric vehicle market. It was first announced on March 28 last year. By the end of 2024, the company had delivered more than 135,000 vehicles and received orders for 248,000 vehicles. Earlier this month, the total number of Xiaomi SU7s exceeded 180,000. The color version was introduced on December 31 last year to celebrate the company’s 15th anniversary.

Xiaomi plans to produce 350,000 electric vehicles by the end of 2025, up from the original plan of 300,000. In addition to the SU7 sedan, which comes in three “civilian” versions, the lineup will also include the SU7 Ultra sports car with 1,500 horsepower. The Chinese company also plans to launch its first crossover, the YU7, this summer. To achieve this goal, the company’s second electric vehicle assembly plant in Beijing will be inaugurated in the near future.
