According to Techcrunch , Google has just launched a series of new features to improve the experience of searching for medical information and support users to manage health records on Android devices. The improvements use artificial intelligence (AI) to provide more accurate information and help users access reliable medical data sources.
Specifically, Google has expanded the visibility of its “knowledge panels” to cover thousands of different medical topics. Previously, these sections only displayed information on a few common diseases like the flu, but the new update has significantly increased the number of topics. In addition, Google has also added support for medical queries in Spanish, Portuguese, and Japanese on mobile devices, helping more users access accurate information.
Google's New AI-Based Features Focus on Health for Users
A new feature called “What People Suggest” is also rolling out to Android mobile devices in the US. The tool uses AI to aggregate information from multiple online forums to help users consult the experiences of people with similar health issues. For example, if you search for popular exercises for people with arthritis, the feature will display content from multiple sources for a more multi-dimensional perspective.
Google also launched the Health Records API on the Health Connect platform for Android, allowing users to collect data from healthcare providers and display health information across multiple apps. With the new API, Health Connect now supports more than 50 data types, helping to connect everyday health data with information from hospitals or clinics.
The Android operating system company also confirmed that the Loss of Pulse Detection feature on the Pixel Watch 3 smartwatch has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and will officially launch in the US at the end of March. This feature can detect when the user loses a pulse due to cardiac arrest, respiratory failure, poor circulation, overdose or poisoning, Pixel Watch 3 will automatically call emergency services if there is no response.
