The 26th ASEAN-China Summit was held at Room 3 Cendrawasih, Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Jakarta, September 6.
Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi shared that the Summit adopted the Joint Statement on Mutually Beneficial Cooperation Based on the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP) and the Joint Statement on Deepening Agricultural Cooperation.
The AOIP includes an agreement to promote specific cooperation in implementing the AOIP, including in the areas of maritime, energy transition, infrastructure, smart cities, e-commerce and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
“ASEAN welcomes China's support for the AOIP, which from the very beginning has emphasized comprehensive cooperation and concrete cooperation,” Minister Retno Marsudi said.
With the 'Joint Statement on Deepening Agricultural Cooperation' to make agriculture a new growth engine contributing to building food security.
The documents discussed were mainly on Green Agriculture Development; Strengthening Cooperation on E-Commerce; Guidelines for Accelerating the Early Signing of an Effective and Substantive Code of Conduct in the East Sea to Accelerate the Completion of the Negotiations on the Code of Conduct (COC); Joint Initiative to Promote the China-ASEAN Science, Technology and Innovation Enhancement Program…
At the conference, Chinese Premier Li Qiang highlighted the importance of the ASEAN-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, saying that this was achieved thanks to the efforts of both sides, cultivating strategic trust, mutual support, mutually beneficial cooperation, and promoting sustainable and inclusive development.
Prime Minister Li Qiang affirmed that with mutual understanding and respect, the relationship will overcome all difficulties and challenges, together pursuing the goals of peace, cooperation and aspirations for development in the future.

ASEAN and Chinese leaders were pleased to note that two-way trade turnover reached a new record of 722 billion USD; China became ASEAN's largest trading partner for 14 consecutive years.
Welcoming the progress of negotiations to upgrade the ASEAN-China Free Trade Area, the two sides agreed to continue promoting economic, trade and investment cooperation, stabilizing the supply chain, supporting market access, and expanding cooperation in digital transformation, digital economy, climate change response, energy transition, green and sustainable development, etc. The conference agreed that 2024 would be the Year of ASEAN-China People-to-People Exchange.
Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized the mutual support between China's development and the ASEAN Community's solidarity and unity, promoting its central role in the region. This is a solid foundation for the comprehensive strategic partnership to develop strongly.
The Prime Minister expressed his hope that the ASEAN-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership will be effective, maintaining a peaceful, stable, cooperative and mutually developing environment in the region. At the same time, it will be a positive factor in promoting trust building, enhancing dialogue, and peacefully resolving disputes in the region, including the East Sea, contributing to the full implementation of the DOC and the early achievement of an effective and efficient COC in accordance with the 1982 UNCLOS.
