Teacher Pham Thanh Tuan, a teacher at Tho Ngoc Kindergarten, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City, is 35 years old this year. He is affectionately called "Dad Tuan" by his students at school. The kindergarten teacher said that he has been taking care of and educating preschool children for 10 years now.
Before working at Tho Ngoc Kindergarten, the teacher from Tien Giang province taught at a non-public school, then passed the teacher recruitment exam of a public school in Binh Chanh District. Two years ago, he transferred to teach in Thu Duc City.
It's never too late to follow your passion.
Teacher Tuan said that when he was a student, career orientation was not as easy as it is now. Seeing friends choosing what to study, many people chose to follow without knowing what they really wanted. "I passed the graphic design exam and finished 4 years of study, receiving a diploma from Hong Bang International University, but after graduating, I still could not find a passion for the major I studied. At the same time, I realized that I really liked playing with children, organizing activities for them, so I decided to go back to school to study preschool education," preschool teacher Pham Thanh Tuan recounted.
Mr. Tuan studied preschool at a secondary school, then after graduating, he taught at a private preschool, studied preschool education at Vinh University and got a university degree. He said that when you find your passion and follow it, it is never too late. At the same time, the knowledge learned from the previous graphic design major also supported him a lot in organizing educational activities for children in preschools. Especially educational activities about aesthetics and shaping.
"Many years ago, when I first started working, I also had many difficulties and confusion. At first, when they saw that I was a male teacher, many parents did not trust me, many were afraid that I could take care of and raise children well. People were also curious, paying attention to how I would teach and organize activities for the children. Gradually, seeing me taking care of the children wholeheartedly, organizing many fun and useful learning activities for the children, and being loved by the children, the parents changed their views. I received great support from parents and children's families," teacher Pham Thanh Tuan shared.
As the only male teacher at Tho Ngoc Kindergarten, Thu Duc City, Mr. Tuan said that he also has other advantages at work such as always receiving attention and support from the school's leadership, the leadership of the Department of Education and Training of Thu Duc City...
Don't be afraid of stereotypes
Currently in charge of the nursery class, where there are 4-5 year old children, teacher Tuan always seeks out creative teaching methods to help children have more interest in classroom activities and have fun when going to school. The teacher said that his family always supports his decisions when choosing to study preschool education again as well as to stick with the profession of raising children.
"As society develops, all industries are equal. Therefore, I want to tell other boys that if you are interested in preschool education, do not hesitate to go to school and work to satisfy your passion. Do not be afraid of prejudices. When you work with passion, from that passion you can develop your strengths, contribute and dedicate more to society. No matter what industry, when you do your job honestly, everyone will support you," the preschool teacher confided.
This morning, July 16, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training held a ceremony to summarize and award prizes to excellent preschool teachers at the city level on the theme "Building plans and organizing nurturing, care and education activities" for the 2023-2024 school year.
