In September 2023, teacher Do Thi Sang, Ly Van Lam Secondary and High School (Ca Mau City), and her students had an interesting experience immersing themselves in the fresh nature of U Minh Ha forest, and working with farmers to set up eel cages here.
The children had the opportunity to experience with Mr. Tran Cong Chanh, Hamlet 12, Khanh Binh Tay Bac Commune and Mr. Pham Van Lun, Hamlet 5, Tran Hoi Commune, Tran Van Thoi District (Ca Mau Province), making eel traps using thorny bamboo to place eels in the traditional way.
From the stage of using a saw to cut bamboo, then removing bamboo buds, making cuttings, drilling holes for the eels to breathe, to the stage of making bait and setting traps to catch eels.
After that, the children enjoyed on-site specialties made from eels caught in the U Minh Ha forest such as braised eel, sour eel soup, hot and delicious stir-fried eel with lemongrass and chili...
Extracurricular activities and picnics are opportunities for urban students to have fun, experience reality, immerse themselves in nature, eat, live and work with farmers.
Through field trips, children learn new and useful things, as well as the hard work of farmers, to appreciate workers and help themselves grow up.
