With more than 2,000 people in more than 400 households, mainly ethnic minorities, every year, Suoi Thong A2 village (Da Ron commune) has improved day by day from appearance to spiritual life. To achieve this "sweet fruit", we cannot fail to mention the contributions and silent sacrifices of non-professional activists in the village. Ms. Ka Rom is one of them - who has spent more than 27 years wholeheartedly contributing to making Suoi Thong A2 a peaceful land.
Ms. Ka Rom (middle) is always devoted and devoted to the peace of the village and neighborhood. |
After midnight, awakened by Ms. T.'s knocking and calling for help, Ms. Ka Rom and her husband quickly followed the woman to her house to understand the situation. Still drunk, Mr. H. - Ms. T.'s husband was still resentful and angry, always wanting to "take action" with his wife in anger. To help Ms. T. and her husband, Ms. Ka Rom calmed down and quickly went in to advise them. After a while of talking, Mr. H. gradually calmed down and realized that his actions were wrong. Thanks to her skillful mediation, Ms. Ka Rom helped Ms. T. and her husband find common ground. "Since then, Ms. T. and her husband have not argued or raised their voices anymore, both of them have tried to be more determined and focused on their work," Ms. Ka Rom recalled.
Although the story happened 10 years ago, for Ms. Ka Rom - a mediator at Suoi Thong A2 village - this is still the most memorable mediation. "And since that successful mediation, I have been attached to this job for the past 10 years," she said.
At the age of 52, Ms. Ka Rom seems to have spent more than half of her life working with the Front, women in the village and participating in mediation work at the grassroots level. As the Head of the Front Work Committee and Head of the Women's Association of Suoi Thong A2 village, Ms. Ka Rom is not only loved by everyone for her ability and responsibility for her work, but also for her enthusiasm, dedication and devotion to everyone. Thanks to her trust and prestige, she and the village mediation team have successfully mediated almost all disputes and conflicts in the village.
Ms. Ka Rom shared that to be a good mediator, first of all, one must be a good example, have ethics and have enough prestige, then words will have value. In addition, besides enthusiasm and dedication, the mediator needs to have good persuasion skills, be skillful and quick in propaganda and mobilization. In particular, one must have "experience" in life and understanding of the law. Especially the Law on Marriage and Family, the Law on Land to be able to propagate and explain to people to understand clearly, thereby limiting disputes and conflicts in the locality.
In marital and family conflicts, Ms. Ka Rom always tries to help couples understand, face the problem and find a reasonable solution. “Conflicts and disagreements in married life and family are inevitable. At these times, members should calm down, sit down and listen, understand each other to find a common voice,” she shared. With conflicts in neighborhood and work relationships, she always carefully researches the incident, listens from many sides, understands the cause, and from there has a direction to help and resolve appropriately.
Thanks to this ingenuity and dedication, she and the Suoi Thong A2 Village Mediation Team have contributed to making the village peaceful, the neighborhood closer, the legal awareness of the ethnic minority people improved, and there are no hot spots for security and order. "In recent years, the village has not had any complicated conflicts, no complaints beyond the level. In particular, since 2018, Suoi Thong A2 has achieved the title of Cultural Village," Ms. Ka Rom said excitedly.
The job of “eating at home and carrying the prison and the village” is often hard, difficult and can be dangerous at any time. Moreover, as a woman, she also has to worry about family and children. However, for nearly 30 years, Ms. Ka Rom has never neglected her work but has always been attached and devoted to her village and neighborhood. “It is not only a responsibility but also a desire to contribute to helping people in Suoi Thong A2 have a better life,” she shared.
In recognition of Ms. Ka Rom's efforts and contributions, she was recently one of the outstanding individuals awarded a certificate of merit by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for her many achievements in 10 years of implementing the Law on Mediation at the grassroots level. For her, in addition to the great joy of being trusted by the people, this award is considered a source of great encouragement and motivation to help her have more motivation to continue to do her job well, contributing to the prosperity of the locality.
