Hoang Hau Toan Phuc Thanh Orchid Garden, where Ms. Pham Thi Le and her colleagues have devoted themselves to building, is contributing to building a brand for this land.

• FROM LOVE FOR QUEEN LAN TO BILLION-DOLLAR BUSINESS
In 2000, on the land that was originally used to grow coffee, Ms. Le and two colleagues were determined to convert and invest in a greenhouse to grow a type of orchid called Hoang Hau. Their intense love for orchids, especially the yellow Hoang Hau orchid with its graceful beauty and seductive fragrance, inspired them to build Toan Phuc Thanh Orchid Garden.
The Queen of Yellow Orchids, originating from Japan, has long been known as the "queen" of orchids. During its heyday, each branch of the Queen of Yellow Orchids cost up to a million VND during Tet. When transported to other provinces and cities, the price increases to several million VND per branch. The elegant beauty, elegant fragrance and durability of the flower have made it a symbol of luxury, nobility and are very popular with flower lovers.
On an area of 5 sao of land, Toan Phuc Thanh Orchid Garden currently has about 8,000 pots of orchids, mainly the yellow Queen orchid. Ms. Le shared: "We focus on investing in the yellow Queen orchid, cultivating in a modern way, requiring less labor to limit diseases on the plants and to develop into high-end commercial products. Up to now, after 5 years, the garden has brought in a fairly stable income for the past 2 years".
During peak season, the garden harvests about 700 branches each week, with an average price of 60,000 to 70,000 VND/branch. During holidays and Tet, the price of each branch, if sold as a whole plant, is up to 400,000 VND. To have beautiful, quality flowers, growers must regularly visit and check for pests and diseases. Ms. Le said that orchids are not too difficult to care for, but require meticulousness, carefulness and especially love for them.
Toan Phuc Thanh orchid garden is invested very systematically, the packaging and resting space of workers is completely separate from the living space of flowers. In addition to the solid iron dome system, the greenhouse surrounds all four sides, the dome is covered with a membrane house system, an automatic misting irrigation system. Cymbidium orchids are grown indoors with substrates such as coconut husk and pine bark, the orchid pots are about 40 cm above the ground. Water is watered every 7-10 days. Cymbidium orchids are less susceptible to diseases in the rainy season but often get sick in the dry season. The dry season is the time when this flower species is often attacked by red spider mites and thrips.
• YELLOW QUEEN ORCHID - NEW BRAND OF XUAN SON
Cymbidium is a noble flower, bringing high economic value. Many households in Xuan Truong, concentrated in Xuan Son village, have successfully developed their economy thanks to growing cymbidium. Mr. Pham Van Dung - Vice Chairman of Xuan Truong Commune People's Committee, said: "Currently, Xuan Truong commune has about 15 households growing cymbidium, with an area of about 5 hectares". Cymbidium has become a brand, contributing to the enrichment of people in the "suburbs" of Da Lat city.
A special feature of growing orchids in greenhouses is that the air in the orchid garden must always be cool and fresh. Ms. Le shared: "Orchids, especially the Queen's yellow orchid, in addition to the spiritual meaning of bringing wealth and fortune, also have the effect of purifying the air, eliminating toxic substances and releasing oxygen, making the living space fresher. That is why orchids are very popular and are the choice of people with high living standards in society."
In the first months of 2025, the price of orchids is showing signs of improvement compared to 2024, currently the price per branch is still at 70,000 VND. This shows that the appeal of this noble flower has not diminished.
Toan Phuc Thanh Orchid Garden is not only a place that brings economic value, but also contributes to beautifying the heroic land of Xuan Son, Xuan Truong. The story of this orchid garden is a testament to the creativity, diligence and love for the flower city of the children of this land, and at the same time affirms the potential for economic development from high-tech agriculture in the heroic land of Xuan Son.
