Preserving and promoting the value of Han Nom heritage in Da Lat associated with promoting and developing tourism

Developing tourism based on exploiting relics always combines the work of preserving diversity and preserving historical and cultural relic values with exploiting tourism services; or in other words, developing tourism for cultural purposes; at the same time, protecting and embellishing relics must aim to increasingly better serve visitors and researchers, including tourists.

Urban development needs to define criteria to serve the people: such as livable cities, friendly cities, sustainable cities, smart cities, humane cities, green cities, beloved cities... Although the concepts and characteristics are different, when talking about urban development, people always refer to a harmonious, sustainable development between economy, environment and society with the aim of serving the lives of people in urban areas, so that they have a more comfortable and happier life, more humane, contributing to building the overall image of the country. The criteria of urban managers above are the basis for reference to give urban development orientations to ensure harmony and conformity between civilized and modern criteria with the cultural characteristics of local residents as well as conformity with Vietnamese culture. Da Lat - a place with full strengths in terms of geographical location, population, history, economy, culture, the importance of Da Lat city was built by the French in the early 20th century. Currently, Da Lat city has important developments in the process of national development, therefore, to be able to build a developed city with a vision to 2050, it is necessary to base on the following orientations:

Building a sustainable city with a vision of 2050. Including many fields, modern facilities, and an advanced social security system of regional scale.

Closely linked to past and future urban development. Inheriting traditional core values, applying the best of developed countries in urban construction and management.

Harmoniously linked with regional economic development, especially towards a livable, civilized, humane city, with natural landscapes, associated with the development of high-tech agriculture.

Besides, it is necessary to research, preserve and promote the value of heritages such as: Architecture, relics, cultural heritage, world memory documentary heritage, aiming to guide people to a life imbued with the style of Da Lat people.

Developing Da Lat urban area is closely linked to preserving the values of architecture, natural landscape, historical relics, promoting the heritage values to the world to promote an image of Da Lat that is both beautiful in natural space, architecture, friendly, humane but also not lacking in the academic part of science as the plan clearly states: "Preserving and developing Da Lat into a unique urban area in terms of planning, architecture, culture, history, natural landscape, building Da Lat into a green and modern tourist - cultural - scientific urban area of international standards".

There are many definitions and understandings of urban development towards sustainability. It includes many issues related to all aspects of life. According to the report of the Brundtland Commission, at the URBAN21 Conference (held in Berlin in July 2000), the definition of sustainable urban development was given: "Improving the quality of life in a city, including ecological, cultural, political, institutional, social and economic components, without leaving a burden on future generations, a burden caused by the decline of natural capital and excessive local debt. Our goal is that the flow principle, based on the balance of materials and energy as well as financial inputs/outputs, must play a key role in all future decisions on the development of urban areas" (Overview of international and domestic experiences and practical assessment in Hanoi, p. 5).

In the process of building and expanding the city, it is necessary to protect nature and natural landscapes, cultural and historical values for the ecological issues and tourism orientation of Lam Dong province. Therefore, preserving and promoting core values is very necessary in the current urbanization process as well as in the future.

In this article, we hope that the authorities at all levels need to pay more attention to researching, preserving and exploiting the cultural heritages left by the Nguyen Dynasty such as: exploiting the value of the Woodblock archives, spiritual relics, valuable artifacts such as the unique ancient screen at Dinh II, the Han Nom literature system at communal houses, pagodas and temples... so that through researching the past, disseminating knowledge, attracting domestic and international scientists to research is an effective way to promote the image of Da Lat.

Da Lat City has a document archive, including the largest Nguyen Dynasty Woodblocks in the country with more than 30,000 plates, which has been recognized by UNESCO as a world memory documentary heritage. The archive has been and is an important bridge for readers, scientists, and domestic and foreign tourists to visit and research.

Folk Han Nom inscriptions including parallel sentences and stele in Da Lat in particular and Lam Dong in general have not been studied yet. Many cultural architectural relics in Da Lat with unique features of community culture such as communal houses, pagodas, shrines, mausoleums... are evidence of the development of cultural beliefs of Da Lat people, the original Vietnamese residents in the journey to open up the South, they came and settled here for more than a century. During that migration process, they did not forget to bring the cultural activities of their homeland to this prime plateau.

The residents who come to live in Lam Dong and Da Lat are mostly from the Central region such as Hue, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Phu Yen... and a part of the North and North Central... Therefore, the imprints of the community cultural activities of this group of residents are still spiritual beliefs. Therefore, they have donated and built community architectural works to have a place for people to come and go during the festival days to pray for peace. Here, we realize that the cultural and spiritual values are never lost even though urban life is becoming more and more bustling and hurried.

Communal houses and pagodas are still the places where many people come to participate in community activities, to worship, to share and to satisfy their worries. Therefore, these places of cultural activities are indispensable in today's era. Our ancestors have concluded that taking the people as the root, therefore, developing Da Lat city is strong in economy, modern in infrastructure but also cannot ignore the preservation and promotion of humanistic values.

Some suggestions for exploiting and preserving Han-Nom relics in Da Lat:

- The first problem is to systematize the entire Han-Nom literature on relics in Da Lat city, then expand to the whole Lam Dong province.

- The problem of classifying, translating, and researching the content value of Han-Nom relics on each specific relic.

- Announce and introduce the value of Han-Nom literature on relics to the public, by disseminating the content of the value of the literature at those relics. Especially exploiting and researching the world documentary heritage of Nguyen Dynasty Woodblocks with other types such as: Hue Royal Palace Relics Poetry, Nguyen Dynasty Royal Records to promote more widely to international friends.

- Introduce the contents of the relics on each relic that is being exploited for tourism for visitors such as: Thien Vuong ancient pagoda; Nguyen Huu Hao tomb; Dinh II; communal houses and pagodas in Da Lat, An Hoa communal house, Ap Anh Sang communal house, Ha Dong communal house, Co Giang communal house, Thai Phien communal house...

- It is necessary to equip tour guides with a good understanding of Chinese characters to be able to read simple characters that appear frequently on relics.

- With the above results, there are measures to preserve, restore and embellish the relics or protect them from being graffitied, pasted paper over letters, or encroached upon as many relics have been recently, such as: Nguyen Huu Hao tomb gate, Tam Quan pagoda gate.

- Finally, it is necessary to clearly study the documents recorded by the Nguyen Dynasty about famous landscapes, lakes, waterfalls, and streams, from which managers and planners can have more useful information to effectively implement the sustainable development of Da Lat City.
