The Ministry of Transport has just sent a document to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, the Institute of Transport Strategy and Development; Vietnam Airlines Corporation and airlines Vietjet Air, Pacific Airlines, Bamboo Airways, Vietravel Airlines about strengthening state management and strictly controlling airfares.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Transport assigned the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to promote the role and responsibility of the state management agency in the aviation sector; strengthen inspection of compliance with the law on ticket sales, declaration and listing of ticket prices by airlines; promptly detect and strictly handle violations of price laws. If necessary, propose specialized price inspection agencies to conduct inspections in accordance with the law.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam will work with Vietnamese airlines to study and propose solutions to increase the supply capacity for domestic routes in the short and long term; create maximum conditions for airlines to add more aircraft to meet people's travel needs during the peak summer season and prepare for the peak season at the end of the year; review and flexibly operate slots at airports to improve air transport supply capacity.
Proactively and closely coordinate with press agencies and media to promptly update, fully and transparently inform about domestic air passenger transport service price regulations, factors affecting domestic air passenger transport service prices; answer questions and concerns of the public and advise and guide people on what to pay attention to when buying airline tickets during peak periods.
Airfares have been continuously high since the end of 2023, seriously affecting people's travel needs.
Notably, the Ministry of Transport requested the Civil Aviation Authority to urgently study and propose solutions and policies to reduce prices for domestic air passenger transport services based on the principle of harmonizing interests between the State, businesses and passengers.
Urgently work and coordinate with the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, localities, Vietnamese airlines and travel companies to research and deploy package tourism products (combo) to diversify the market, diversify products, diversify service supply chains, reduce costs to meet the needs of the people and the economy.
In particular, effectively implement the Aviation - Tourism connection in the Mekong Delta region according to the Project "Strengthening aviation connection with tourist source markets" approved by the Prime Minister; have solutions to open new international/domestic routes to/from Can Tho International Airport and review and adjust take-off and landing times (slots) for flights in accordance with local living habits...
The Ministry of Transport also assigned the Institute of Transport Strategy and Development to coordinate with agencies and research units to build a database related to air travel demand, domestic air passenger transport service prices, countries in the region and the world to analyze, evaluate, forecast, coordinate policy advice to improve transport capacity, reduce costs, lower transport prices to meet travel demand, develop tourism activities, and contribute to economic development.
For airlines, the Ministry of Transport requires strict implementation of regulations on domestic air passenger transport service prices, price declaration, price posting, public disclosure of information on prices and ticket sales programs according to regulations. Information on the structure of fees in ticket prices must be complete, clear and not confusing to passengers .
