(Dan Tri) - Airfares for the April 30 holiday on many routes increased by 30-40%, even double compared to normal days. Some flights to famous tourist destinations were sold out early.
According to a survey by Dan Tri reporters this morning (March 20), airfares for many routes of different airlines have increased sharply during the April 30 - May 1 holiday.
For flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi, the cheapest economy class ticket of Vietnam Airlines for 4 days from April 29 to May 2 is over 2.5 million VND/way, an increase of 47% compared to a week ago. Some early flight times only have a few seats left.
In the same direction, Vietjet Air's airfare (excluding taxes and fees) also increased early on April 24, from the normal price of VND890,000/way to VND1.01 million/way, an increase of 13%. Particularly on April 29, the ticket price increased by VND1.29 million/way, an increase of 45% compared to normal days.
Bamboo Airways' flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi during the April 30 holiday also increased. The cheapest ticket price on weekdays, around VND1.9 million/way, increased to VND2.5 million/way from April 29 and remained until May 5, an increase of 31% over the 7 days.

Flights from Ho Chi Minh City to some tourist destinations such as Da Nang, Phu Quoc, and Da Lat also increased sharply. Vietnam Airlines' Ho Chi Minh City - Da Nang route from March 29 to May 2 increased by about 68% compared to the ticket price of previous days, up to nearly 2.5 million VND/ticket. Meanwhile, Vietjet Air increased by 80% compared to the usual popular price, up to 890,000 VND/ticket (excluding taxes and fees).
Vietnam Airlines' Ho Chi Minh City - Phu Quoc route increased by 73% compared to the previous price, in 4 days (April 29 - May 2), to 1.9 million VND/ticket. Vietjet Air also doubled the usual price, to more than 1 million VND/ticket (excluding taxes and fees).
Although ticket prices are higher than usual, many flights are currently sold out. Vietnam Airlines reported that flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang are sold out at the "golden" times of 8am, 9:05am, and 10am on April 30. Some other flights on this day only have a few seats left.
On the same day, April 30, Vietnam Airlines' flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Con Dao did not increase in price compared to normal days, still at 1.79 million VND/way, but all economy class tickets were sold out at many flight times such as 8:10, 8:25, 8:40, 9:25, 11:05, 12:05, 12:20...
Similarly, Vietjet Air flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Quoc on April 30 were also "sold out" at 9:20-10:20 in all flight classes.
Airfares during holidays and Tet often increase due to many reasons such as increased passenger demand, increased ceiling prices, and scarcity of aircraft... Therefore, many people book in advance, causing some flights to "sell out" early.
